Laboratory for Management in Culture and Tourism at the re(search).hse Festival: How Students Find Their Research Projects
On December 16, the Laboratory for Management in Culture and Tourism took part in the first re(search).hse Festival of research laboratories, centres, and student academic associations of HSE University-St Petersburg, held at the Kanatny Tsekh. For students, doctoral students, and staff of the university, the festival became an opportunity to see how the research life of HSE University-St Petersburg is organised, to learn about the work directions of various teams, and to find projects to join as early as this academic year.
Tourist Mahallas of Samarkand: A Master Class on Meanings, Management, and Promotion
On December 5, 2025 at Samarkand State University named after Sharof Rashidov, as part of the international academic cooperation project "Integrated Platform Solutions in the Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage (using the example of Samarkand and St. Petersburg)", a scientific and educational master class was held on the management and promotion of mahallas as tourist territories. The master class was conducted by research fellows of the Laboratory for Management in Culture and Tourism, Ekaterina Baskakova and Alexandra Pakhomova. An analysis of two selected mahallas in Uzbekistan showed that effective tourist positioning is built on a combination of management decisions and well-thought-out PR promotion.
'Global Dialogue about the Future': Key Topics of Expert Lectures at HSE St Petersburg International Partners' Week
The International Partners' Week at HSE University-St Petersburg united more than 100 representatives of leading universities from 23 countries. During the large forum, specialists of the campus, invited experts and international partners took part in panel discussions on artificial intelligence, the use of 'soft power', shaping a new generation of leaders and many other topics.
Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage: a Perspective from Samarkand and St. Petersburg
Scientists of the Laboratory for Management in Culture and Tourism took part in the scientific-educational seminar «Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage: examples and research methods» held at the Samarkand State University named after Sharof Rashidov. The event was organized within the International academic partnership «Integrated platform solutions for the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage (cases of Samarkand and St. Petersburg)».
The staff of the Laboratory for Management in Culture and Tourism took first place at the IV International Forum of Young Researchers of the Creative Economy
The researchers of the Laboratory of Management in Culture and Tourism took first place for their research of the Sevkabel Port visitors. During thefield research, they conducted a survey among guests of the creative space to identify the preferences of different social groups. As a result of the project, researchers proposed recommendations aimed at making Sevkabel Port more appealing to various target audiences.
