Empirical base of research:
Social-economic, political, and electoral statistics by administrative districts and municipalities; different integral ratings by spheres of other research teams, gathered when working on the 2014 project “Comparative analysis of democractic institutions development and levels of democracy in regions of Russia”: evaluations of regional authorities effectiveness, of openness and informational activism, ratings of investment attractiveness, of political stability and risks etc. Integral indices of social-economic and political tension in regions, calculated on a base of state statistics and specially gathered data bases on regional political elites and division of powers in regions.
Results of research:
In theory: Development of the theory of regional political systems and interconnection of political regimes at the national and subnational levels;
In methodology: Adaptation of comparative politics approaches and analysis of democratic development at countries level to be used at regional and subregional levels. Working out the methodology of region’s socio-political development and of proposals for its harmonization;
Empirical knowledge: Regions’ democracy ratings time series calculation to evaluate political development unevenness and its major trends, which can be used in different political, economic and sociological studies dealing with regional dimension.
Level of implementation, recommendations on implementation or outcomes of the implementation of the results
Preliminary results of work on the project have been used for the system of monitoring social-economic and political tension in regions for the Committee on Civic Initiatives led by Alexei Kudrin.
