Research of public demand for digital technologies and development of proposals on measures of its integration into the digital economy

Goal of research

The project aims to analyze the social demand for digital technologies and develop proposals on measures for integration of population into the digital economy.

Methodology

The research methodology involves secondary analysis of statistical data and online surveys of Internet users.

The empirical base of research

The following sources form the empirical basis for the research:

  • databases of the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat);
  • the results of public opinion polls and specialized studies of public attitudes towards digital technologies;
  • the results of an online survey of Internet users aged 14 years and older (N=3000).

Results of research

The results include an analysis of statistical indicators of population integration into the digital economy and a description of the factors of digital divide. The results of an online survey of population aged 14 years and older allowed assessment of population demand for digital technologies and elaborate recommendations integration of various social strata into the digital economy. According to the results of the survey, a number of indicators were obtained that are important for the development of the digital economy:

  • involvement of users in the practice of feedback for e-government and online public services, the use of remote technologies at different levels of education, services of online access to medical data and online consultations with doctors, electronic mortgage services and other financial and insurance services, the consumption of virtual cultural content, the use of the Internet for the transmission and / or payment of water and electricity meters;
  • attitudes towards the provision of access to personal data, the implementation of intelligent transportation systems focused on the automation of traffic management processes and the movement of unmanned vehicles.

Recommendations for implementation

The main findings can be used to assess public demand for digital technologies and develop policy instruments aimed at integrating different social groups into the digital economy.
