HSE RUN Cultural and Historical Quest to Take Place in Moscow on April 27

© HSE RUN Community on VK.com

HSE RUN is a traditional HSE cultural and historical quest around Moscow organised by Ingroup StS, the university’s oldest student group. This year marks the 29th time the event is being held. The quest is conducted in both Russian and English. Teams of two to six people will set off on an exciting journey through the capital.

The event will begin at 10:30 am with a vibrant opening ceremony in the Media Courtyard of the HSE building on Khitrovsky Pereulok. Guests will be treated to performances by HSE creative groups and festival-style activities from various student organisations.

The quest itself will start at 12:00 pm. Participants will have to solve as many riddles as possible and visit the corresponding locations. Teams earn points for each riddle solved and each location visited, and the team with the highest score by the end wins. The winners and runners-up will receive valuable prizes from the event’s partners.

THE SPRING QUEST INCLUDES SIX THEMED BLOCKS:
  • Scientific Moscow
  • Moscow with a Mezzanine
  • Following the Sounds of Moscow
  • Moscow in the Words of a Poet
  • The Moscow of Contemporary Art
  • Victorious Moscow

The Victorious Moscow block is dedicated to the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland and commemorates the 80th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany. Participants will visit significant wartime sites and learn about their history.

Quest teams can comprise between two and six people. Those without a team yet can indicate this in their HSE RUN 29 personal account to be matched with a team looking for more members.

Valeria Savkina, coordinator HSE RUN 29

For me, HSE RUN is a unique opportunity—a chance to discover a new side of my favourite city, have a great time with friends, and try something new that might become an important part of life.

For me, HSE RUN is all about love. Love for my hometown, and for all the people who live here. Moscow is full of secrets, mysteries, atmosphere—everything I adore. I am an art historian by profession. Some might imagine a dull academic, always in libraries reading about art. But in reality, art history is a very practical field. It is research you do for people. Just like HSE RUN—it is a chance to share the love I feel with those who come to our quest. It is an opportunity to tell them something new and fascinating, and simply to bring a little joy.

Roman Sinitsyn, developer of the HSE RUN website

For me, as a participant, HSE RUN is a chance to spend a wonderful weekend day with people I care about. I have taken part in the quest twice, and each time I wanted to come back. I enjoy travelling, solving puzzles, and meeting insiders along the route.

Now, as an organiser, HSE RUN is also a space for innovation. The very concept of the project leaves so much room for creativity. It is great to forget the word ‘impossible’ and bring something new to life. I love having loads of ideas and gradually making them a reality, so that each guest and participant comes back again and again, discovering something fresh every time. Onward to new heights!

Moscow is a city full of mysteries and unexpected discoveries. Every walk feels like a little adventure, and the HSE RUN quest is a fantastic way to connect with the city’s history and spirit, explore its streets, and experience the unique atmosphere of the capital.

The quest begins on April 27 at 10:30 am in the Media Courtyard of the HSE building on 2/8 Khitrovsky Pereulok, Korpus 5. You can register via the link.
