‘Catch the Wave with HSE,’ a large-scale celebration of sports for HSE students, staff, and alumni, as well as family and friends, will be held at the Krylatskoye Rowing Canal on June 14. Participants will take part in rowing races, workshops, and other outdoor activities, spending a day near the water in one of the most striking sports venues in Moscow.
The festival will feature several types of outdoor activities, including rowing, kayaking, standup paddleboarding, and rafting. Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in team events—dragon boat races and Viking longboat races. The majority of the activities will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, though some require prior registration. With instructors on site, even beginners can get involved.
Both relaxation zones and activity zones will be available—the latter include zones for stretching, pickleball, ultimate frisbee, and other activities. There will also be a children’s area with entertainers, as well as music and a DJ set throughout the day.
The programme will start off with a warmup. At 9:30 am, the HSE Running Club is hosting a 5-kilometre easy run around the canal, and the HSE Swimming Club is inviting people to two open-water swims: a 500-metre one and a 1,000-metre one.
Among the central events of the festival are the dragon boat and Viking longboat races, whose winners will be awarded at the end.
The festival will open to guests at 10 am at the Krylatskoye Rowing Canal (2 Krylatskaya Ulitsa).
Director of the Sports Community Support Centre of the HSE Corporate Academy, Olympic champion in rowing
I’m glad that this major HSE University sports festival will take place at the legendary Rowing Canal that was once an Olympic Games venue. Participants will get the chance to not only visit the place, but also experience rowing—a wonderful sport. This is especially relevant since HSE has an amazing student rowing team that successfully competes and represents the university in the Student Rowing League.
Sport is doubly important when it engages and unites large masses of people. I’m sure that all the participants will enjoy the event.
Head of the HSE Office for Alumni Relations and Career Development
This time, our tradition of getting together as a big HSE family took on a new name: ‘Catch the Wave with HSE.’
This festival is an opportunity to create a friendly space that brings people of different ages, occupations, and sports preferences together. Alumni, staff, and students gather at the same location to collectively take to the water, show team spirit in competitions, spend time on the shore, and cheer on the athletes and amateur rowers.
We believe that the annual sports festival tradition helps the guests to strengthen relationships, meet like-minded people, and share lasting memories.
We are excited to see everyone from HSE! Come for new experiences, positive feelings, and warm conversations.
The festival is organised by the Sports Community Support Centre of the HSE Corporate Academy and the HSE Office for Alumni Relations and Career Development.
