Philip Altbach Made HSE Honorary Professor

At a meeting of the HSE Academic Council, Director of the Center for International Higher Education at Boston College,  HSE International Advisory Committee Member, Philip Altbach was awarded the title of HSE Honorary Professor.

Philip Altbach is a prominent specialist in higher education. He has been a lecturer and researcher at leading American universities, and at  universities in developing countries. Since 1994 Altbach has been at Boston College, where he founded and led the Center for International Higher Education.

Professor Altbach is one of the most active members of HSE’s International Advisory Committee. He contributed in a major way to the formation of the strategy of HSE academic development and collaborates intensively with the Center for Institutional Studies. A fifth book, based on research by Altbach and his colleagues is currently being prepared for publication.

In 2014 HSE started to publish the International Higher Education Bulletin — a Russian-language version of a Boston College quarterly, edited by Philip Altbach. Another joint project of HSE and Altbach’s centre is an original supplement to the bulletin, Higher Education in the Post-Soviet Area.
