Business and Management Faculty Team win Jaguar Game Changer Case Competition

619 HSE students entered the Jaguar Game Changer Business case competition. It is the first event of this kind organised as part of HSE’s cooperation with Jaguar Land Rover.

Student competitors had to team up in fours and present their solution to a real marketing problem facing the company. There were three stages in the contest. In the first, 83 teams from all HSE campuses and even the HSE lycee sent in their proposals. Out of those 10 semi-finalist teams were selected to present their cases to the judges in a 4 minute pitch.

Two teams from Perm, and three from Moscow - one from the Faculty of Economics and two from the Faculty of Business and Management - went through to the final. They had just a day and a half to fine tune their solution and prepare a 10 minute final presentation. As a result, joint first prize went to two teams from the Faculty of Business and Management - the ‘Top Gear’ team of students on the Master’s in Marketing programme and the ‘SpringInMoscow’ team on the Master’s in Marketing Communications and Advertising course.

The winners were awarded prizes and offered work experience opportunities at Jaguar Land Rover. But participants put a high value on the experience they gained during the contest itself. ‘The practice of creating our own project has been the best present of all in this competition,’ says Alexander Lebedev of the ‘SpringInMoscow’ team. ‘To win we had to create the team synergy we’ve been told about so often in class. We’re grateful to our professors for the things they’ve taught us.’

A second competition is planned for the autumn.
