The 27th Open Camping Weekend organized by the HSE Extreme Sports Club was held on May 26-28. About 350 HSE students, staff members and graduates took part in this event.
This year, not only Russian fans of outdoor recreation and tourism, but also 10 international students from almost all continents took part in this event. Students from Malaysia, Mexico and Nigeria joined us in the woods not too far from Sergiev Posad to see some real Russian nature!
Some HSE alumni, including those who graduated many years ago, joined the camping trip with their children, for whom there were special competitions and games. The event programme included a game of ‘Capture the Flag’, an obstacle course with ropes, climbing with carabines and straps, various other physical activities, and a campfire.
The obstacle course was a real challenge with deserving winners. A team of students and graduates - ‘Sup Peach’ - took first place, while a team with the very touristy name of ‘Sausages’ came in second. Rounding out third place was the ‘Elite Snowdrop’ team.
A huge campfire at a large meadow and a couple of other small fires near the student campsites were able to attract musicians, as well as fans of guitar, accordion and drum songs. A young, but very ambitious music group, Zhiznesfera, which performed original songs, also took part in the event for the first time ever.
HSE Camping Weekends are organized by the HSE Extreme Sports Club in cooperation with the University’s Department of Physical Training.
