Results of the HSE Student Council Elections

The second round of the elections for the position of Student Rights Commissioner is to be held in January

The results of the elections for student councils (faculties, dormitories and institutes) as well as the position of Student Rights Commissioner have been announced.

In January, the new assemblies of the student councils of 15 faculties, 10 dormitories of HSE University in Moscow and the HSE International Students' Association will hold their first meetings and start working. In addition, local student councils are to elect representatives of their faculties to the HSE Student Council: in 2020, the 6th assembly of the HSE's main student council will begin its work.

The Student Rights Commissioner yet to be determined: none of the candidates won the support of the absolute majority of the students who voted. In January, the second round of elections will be held, Ivan Belokurov (1505 votes, 26%) and Ruslan Aslanov (1382 votes, 23%) will take part in the election.

The turnout in the election of the Student Rights Commissioner was 18%. Newer HSE faculties - the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnologies (75% of students voted) and the Faculty of Chemistry (62%) – had the highest turnout in the elections for local student councils. The lowest turnout was in the Faculty of Communications, Media and Design (14.68%) - the largest faculty by the number of voters.
