Centre for Psychological Counselling Wraps Up Mental Health Spring Festival at HSE University

The Festival’s outcomes and forthcoming events in brief

After fifty days and 73 events, the Mental Health Spring, a joint project by the HSE Centre for Psychological Counselling and the Student Initiative Support Centre, has reached its conclusion. Below, we share some impressions of the festival, as well as links to publications that followed the lectures.

The self-isolation regime has become a huge stress both for students and university staff. During the lockdown, the Centre of Psychological Counselling worked online: in addition to online consultations, it also offered lectures, master classes, live streams, and practical psychological training sessions.

For almost two months, project participants took part in a wide range of activities. They learnt how to organize the routine in self-isolation; they read about motivation and how to work effectively; they  learnt how to be mindful with the help of meditation and yoga practices; they talked about how our relationships with our parents impact our adult lives, who our inner critic is, and how to recognize suicidal behaviour; and they examined the borders between a psychological norm and a pathology.

In the next few weeks, we will once more have to go through a process of adaptation: now, back to normal life. Here, psychologists also advise being more careful about your daily schedule, physical exercise, and nutrition. It’s important to listen to your feelings during this time.

Russia is gradually lifting its quarantine measures, and many people worry about what life will be like afterwards and how to better prepare for the return to ordinary life.

On Instagram, the Centre for Psychological Counselling continues to share useful information (in Russian): follow the Centre to stay up to date. There, you can also see recordings of several events of the festival.

In addition, you can always register for individual consultations: the information on how to register is available on the Centre’s website.
