Mikhail Denisenko Appointed Director of HSE Institute of Demography

Previously, the position was held by Anatoly Vishnevsky, who died in January 2021.
Mikhail Denisenko has been working at HSE University since 2007 as Deputy Director of the Institute of Demography and Head of the Department of Demography. Previously he worked as Head of the Regional Demography and Human Ecology Sector of the Center for Population Problems Studies of the Lomonosov Moscow State University.
His research interests include such areas as demographic behaviour of social groups, socio-economic aspects of demographic dynamics, forecasting and modelling of demographic processes, and migration.
Mikhail Denisenko is HSE Tenured Professor and member of the Academic Council. He has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland (2nd class).
