What to Do If Your Student or a Colleague Displays Symptoms of an Infectious Disease

© Daniil Prokofyev/ HSE University

  • At the first signs of an infectious disease (fever, loss of smell, general malaise, cough), the student or staff member should be immediately isolated in the medical office or any separate room until an ambulance arrives.
  • A nurse, a department head, a degree programme manager, or any HSE employee must call an ambulance.
  • If the doctor determines that hospitalization is unnecessary, the student or staff member should go home and call a doctor from the outpatient clinic indicated in their insurance policy.

If a person tests positive for COVID-19, they must report their result to the Office of Staff and Student Benefits.

A list of persons who were in contact with the infected student or staff member within 14 days before the diagnosis should be sent to szhukova@hse.ru.

The list in Excel should include the following information:

  • Full name
  • Contact dates (DD. MM. YY)
  • Birth date (DD.MM.YY)
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Actual address of residence

A list of classrooms, which the student or employee with the confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 visited, should be sent in a separate mail.

Persons who came into contact with the sick person are suspended from studies and work for 14 days and are prohibited from visiting campus grounds in accordance with the official policy of Rospotrebnadzor.

The HSE Office of Administrative Buildings organises disinfection of the university/dormitory buildings.

The Office of Staff and Student Benefits sends the information to the Director of the HR Department for issuing an order on students/staff suspension from work/study for 14 days from the date of last contact with the patient.

Electronic ID passes of isolated students and staff are blocked for the duration of the required isolation.

University premises are regularly cleaned with disinfectants.
