Seminar 'Telework and Subjective Well-Being'

IOS-IZA-HSE University International Labor Seminar will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 16:00 (MSK, GMT+3).

Speaker: Guillaume Gueguen (Paris School of Economics)

Title: Adopting Telework: The causal impact of working from home on subjective wellbeing during the Covid-19 lockdown

We uncover a positive effect of work from home on life satisfaction, especially for men and those without children at home. Concerning mental health, the impact is initially negative, but progressively turns positive as people adapt to this new situation. Most of these positive effects are driven by partnered people, as opposed to singles who suffer from transiting to telework. Joint research with Claudia Senik (Paris Schoolof Economics, Sorbonne University and IZA).

Seminar 'Private Equity and Sustainable Investors'

The HSE School of Finance invites you to attend the online seminar with Professor  Joseph A. McCahery (Tilburg University, Netherlands) on 3rd December 14:00.

Subject: 'Private equity and Sustainable Investors'

Abstract: We use a unique dataset to examine the link between ESG disclosure and quality through a cross-country comparison of disclosure requirements and stewardship codes. We find a strong relationship between the extent of ESG disclosure and the quality of a firm’s disclosure. Furthermore, we find that ESG is correlated with decreased risk. This result suggests that firms with good ESG scores are simply disclosing more information. Finally, we show that ESG scores have little or no impact on risk-adjusted financial performance.
