Wil van der Aalst Becomes HSE Honorary Professor

The famous Dutch computer scientist Wil van der Aalst has been made HSE Honorary Professor for his enormous contribution to the development of research and teaching programmes at the university and for reinforcing HSE’s international reputation.   

Professor at the Technical University of Eindhoven, Wil van der Aalst is one of the leading specialists in modelling and analysis of information systems. He is also considered to be the creator and leader of the new fast-developing scientific discipline - process mining. Professor van der Aalst’s ideas have been a major influence on software researchers and developers.  

Van der Aalst has had a long and fruitful relationship with HSE. He helped to create the double diploma Master’s programme on System and Software Engineering which is taught jointly by HSE and the Technical University of Eindhoven, he introduced a course on Software Development Management and supervised HSE students on their dissertations.

In 2013-2014 he was academic supervisor at the International Research Laboratory of Process Aware Information Systems. And now Professor van der Aalst is involved in joint research projects and preparing joint publications with colleagues at HSE. Besides, as the head of the working group IEEE Task Force on Process Mining which includes more than 50 universities, research centres and IT companies, Professor van der Aalst is integrating HSE researchers in the global research network.
