Competition for Potential Master’s students in Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communications Held at HSE
On the 15th February 2015, the School of Foreign Languages held its first ‘olympiad’ for students and graduates applying for places on the new Master’s programme Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communications. The competition was open to 4th and 5th year students and recent university graduates.
The competition attracted an unprecedented number of people — 445, making the new course the 4th most popular of 33 Master’s programmes in terms of applicants. And it isn’t only HSE students — most of the applicants are from other Russian universities — only 90 of those who entered the competition are HSE students or alumni.
Although information about the programme was only put on the university website in October 2014, in three months it had travelled the whole country — 42% of applicants for the ‘olympiad’ are from the Russian regions.
