From February 24 – 26, 2016, the IEEE REV'2016 International Conference on Remote Engineering and Virtual Instrumentation took place in Madrid, Spain.

On February 26th, 2016, a student conference ‘Russia and Brazil: as Strategic Partners: Challenges and Opportunities’, dedicated to the problems of economic development of Russia and Brazil as well as the relationship between the two countries, was held at HSE.

HSE Extreme Sports Club organized a skiing and snowboarding trip to Elbrus for HSE students, graduates and staff.

Ladies in ball gowns and gentlemen in suits, waltz and polonaise next to jazz and rock-and-roll — the Viennese ball, organized by HSE Club gut geD-A-CHt, was held at the German-Russian House in Moscow.

On February 26th, 2016, Donor Day took place for the fourth time at HSE in St. Petersburg. This time 77 people became donors, although the number of willing volunteers was even higher.

HSE Student tourism club (former MIEM tourism club) has opened a branch in Nizhny Novgorod.

At an Academic Council meeting on February 26, four HSE staff members were given awards for their outstanding achievements and contributions to their departments and to the university as a whole.

Alexandra Sazhina, Lecturer at the Department of Management, HSE in Perm, took part in an international conference, Beyond the Great Beauty: Rescaling Heritage and Tourism. The event took place at the Rimini campus of the University of Bologna, Italy.

On February 4 – 5, 2016, a conference ‘Market economy and rural worlds in Eastern Europe’ organized by the University of Bordeaux’s Department of Sociology and the Emile Durkheim Centre took place in France.

On January 31st – February 3^rd 2016, the Winter School of the Faculty of Social Sciences was held at the ‘Voronovo’ Learning Centre, HSE. During the event, potential master’s students took part in master classes, business cases and meetings with students and graduates of the faculty’s educational programmes.

The international symposium, held by SERU (Student Experience in the Research University) International Consortium on January 18, was sponsored by the University of California, Berkeley, the HSE Institute of Education, and Tongji University, which hosted the event. SERU-International Managing Director and IoE leading researcher Igor Chirikov took part in the event, which united over 50 representatives of universities in China, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Russia and the United States.
