HSE Talks were founded by students from the HSE Faculty of Business and Management. The first event was held on November 10, 2014. HSE Talks #5 was the first time an international speaker was invited. Prince John Abakah, a fifth year student of the Moscow Power Engineering institute (MPEI), gave a talk on how to avoid procrastination.

Kerri Matulis is majoring in Psychology and Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. She is spending a semester at the Faculty of Economics of HSE. If students use any of the gym space in the HSE dormitories, they have probably seen some of these items present. While these fitness materials aid students in their quest either to get into shape or to maintain some level of physical fitness, Kerri wants to suggest that there is definitely another option, which can add to both your fitness and sight-seeing routine: running.

From May 25th to June 6th HSE students will be voting for best teachers of the year. Both full-time and exchange students can take part in the elections. Voting for the best teachers, on the one hand, gives each student an opportunity to evaluate the quality of teaching at the university, and on the other hand, allows the university to identify and reward the most popular instructors.

From March 24-28, 2015, Toronto (Canada) hosted the TESOL 2015 International Convention and English Language Expo. It drew more than 5,600 professionals from 91 countries who planned to cross borders and build bridges. There were more than 1,000 academic sessions offered in Toronto. Aida Rodomanchenko, Head of learning and teaching office at the School of Foreign Languages at HSE was the only speaker from Russia. Her talk was entitled 'Roundtable Discussion as an Alternative to a Traditional Oral Examination'.

From April 10-14, 2015, Manchester (UK) hosted the 49 th  annual IATEFL conference. About 3,000 delegates attended the conference, and over 400 presentations were given.  English-language coordinator at the HSE’s International College of Economics and Finance (ICEF) Elena Velikaya gave a talk entitled Teaching English at an Economic University: Looking for New Perspectives.
