On December 1, HSE celebrated another anniversary and, according to tradition, awarded the best teachers, researchers, administrative staff, and students with the Golden HSE prize.

On November 20-23, the National Communication Association (NCA) organized its 100^th conference in Chicago. Sergey Zverev, Oleg Kashirskikh, and Nelli Bachurina, all instructors in HSE’s School of Integrated Communications, presented papers at the conference and took part in a panel discussion as well.

This issue continues the series profiling the new HSE Faculties. This time it brings the Faculty of Economics into the spotlight. The Faculty’s Dean, Oleg Zamulin, explains how the faculty was formed and outlines the current major development priorities. The editors also welcome aboard new international professors, who began their work at the university, and draw readers’ attention to the calls for papers for PhD Seminars planned as part of the XVI April International Academic Conference.

Members of HSE’s Academic Council have determined the list of nominees for the university’s highest award, the Golden HSE. In a secret vote, they selected candidates whose names were put forward by the Higher School of Economics’ structural divisions, university staff, and student organizations.

The HSE Extreme Sports Club invites students, lecturers and staff of the university and their friends to go on a trip from November 29 to December 4, 2014, to an equestrian centre, which is located 150 km away from Nizhny Novgorod. Registration is open until November 26.

Fourth-year students of the Economics  track have finished the Business Valuation lecture cycle carried out by University of Vigo (Spain) Professor Angel Barajas, who is the academic supervisory of the International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy.

Perm HSE continues to implement a joint MA programme with the University of Essex (UK) Business Strategies in a Global Environment.There are currently two Perm HSE students enrolled in the course – Marina Plyusnina and Yury Gritsiuk.

HSE Family is a new social networking website in Russian and English for graduates, students and teachers on all HSE campuses.

Lana Zakharova, ICEF 2013 graduate shared her impressions of studying for a Master’s at the Bendheim Centre for Finance, University of Princeton.

At a meeting of the HSE Academic Сouncil on October 31, five members of the University staff were given awards recognizing their achievements at HSE.

The HSE's Banking Institute has selected the team that will represent the University at the CFA Institute Research Challenge 2014-2015 international student completition in financial analysis.

This edition takes a closer look at the  Faculty of Social Sciences, its departments, people and projects. New international academics Marie Arsalidou and Tadamasa Sawada, both Assistant Professors at the School of Psychology, and Mahama Tawat, Assistant Professor at the Public Policy Department, introduce themselves in short interviews where they discuss their plans and aspirations.
