The article ‘Academic Historians in Russian Media: A Selfie-session’ by HSE Professor Irina Savelieva and postgraduate student Zarina Gatina has been published in the journal of the Polish Academy of Sciences ‘Rozprawy z Dziejów Oświaty’.

HSE would like to congratulate Udara Peiris, Assistant Professor at ICEF on having his article ‘Collateral and the Efficiency of Monetary Policy’ accepted for publication in the international peer-reviewed journal ‘Economic Theory’.  The article was coauthored by Alexandros Vardoulakis, Economist at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.

Karl Bruckmeier is an environmental sociologist and since 2011 he has been a professor at the Analysis of Social Institutions Department at the HSE Faculty of Social Sciences. He talked to the HSE English News Service about the challenges of being an interdisciplinary academic and about the pace of change in Russia in attitudes towards the environment. Anna Chernyakhovskaya began the interview by asking Professor Bruckmeier about his life at HSE.

Aleksandra Sazhina (Khamadieva), Lecturer in the School of Management at the HSE Campus in Perm, presented the interim results of her dissertation research at the 2nd International Winter School of the NES Center for the Study of Diversity and Social Interactions. The school was devoted to ‘The Impact of Cultural and Social Diversity in Economic Development’.

‘HSE is a new generation university which offers many opportunities to historians in Russia. I’m very happy to be here and I feel that I’m working with like-minded people.’ Junior Research Fellow at the Centre for Historical Research Gayle Lonergan talked about her research interests and why she decided to work with HSE St Petersburg.

On November 20-23, the National Communication Association (NCA) organized its 100^th conference in Chicago. Sergey Zverev, Oleg Kashirskikh, and Nelli Bachurina, all instructors in HSE’s School of Integrated Communications, presented papers at the conference and took part in a panel discussion as well.

The HSE's Banking Institute has selected the team that will represent the University at the CFA Institute Research Challenge 2014-2015 international student completition in financial analysis.

ICEF BSc graduate 2007 Eyno Rots defended his PhD thesis in Economics at the Boston University (USA).Topic: 'Essays on Unsecured Credit, Uncertainty, and Learning'.

HSE Perm has hosted the second International Conference on Applied Research. The conference drew Russian and international experts. Participants discussed theoretical models of economic processes, public-private partnership, intellectual capital, market development etc.

International Interdisciplinary Conference ‘Time and Temporality in Theme Parks’  was organized at Gutenberg University (Mainz, Germany) on September 18-20. The conference consisted of several panels focused on a wide range of topics: theme parks in the U.S., theme park theory, urbanism in American imagery, and more.

On September 17, the HSE Perm will host an open lecture by Professor Hodge on the phenomenon of public-private partnership. Graeme Hodge, Professor of Law at Monash University (Australia), studies issues of social and economic policy, public administration and law in Europe, Australia, the Philippines, Indonesia, and China.

Professor Vereshchagin has been elected to the Informatics section of the Academy of Europe. The Academia Europaea is a functioning European Academy of Humanities, Letters and Sciences, composed of individual members. Membership is by invitation.
