The XI Russian and German research conference on structural reforms to stimulate regional economic growth took place at the HSE Saint Petersburg.

On April 23, 2014, Professor Dennis Mueller (University of Vienna, Austria) spoke at the HSE on 'Democracy and Citizenship'. He agreed to speak with the HSE news service to share his views on successful democracy and his impressions of the HSE as an institute.

On April 1-4, 2014 the Higher School of Economics held its annual April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development. The conference international participants shared their impressions of the event in the April issue of the HSE Look.

Bart Taub, Professor in Finance (Economics) at the Adam Smith Business School of  the University of Glasgow, who will be visiting ICEF during 2014-2016, spoke to the HSE news service about his research and collaboration with ICEF HSE.

A lecture course in international marketing by Anna Zarkada, Assistant Professor at the Athens University of Economics and Business, has begun at the HSE Perm. The course is intended for undergraduate students in the Faculty of Management.

On April 15, 2014, Mitch Feierstein, a British-American investor, banker, analyst, and columnist for The Independent and Huffington Post, presented the Russian edition of his book Planet Ponzi: How Politicians and Bankers Stole Your Future. What Happens Next. How You Can Survive, at the HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs.

Dagmar Divjak is Reader in Slavic Languages and Linguistics and co-director of the Centre for Linguistic Research at the University of Sheffield’s School of Modern Languages and Linguistics.

Immo Rebitschek, postgraduate student of the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, gave a lecture on the system of education in Europe and delivered a masterclass on historical research at the HSE Perm.

On April 2, 2014, Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, participated in the roundtable discussion ‘Innovation and Social Policy in the New Context’ as part of the XV April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development.

On the second day of the XV HSE April International Aca­demic Conference on Economic and Social Development several conference participants and guests told us about their research and shared their impressions of the event in short interviews for the HSE News Service.

Nadezhda Radina, Professor at the HSE Faculty of Humanities in Nizhny Novgorod, studied psychological well-being among foreign students in Russia and presented her findings in a report ‘Educational Migration in the Context of the New Migration Policy of Russia’, which was prepared for the XV April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development.

Dr. Marek Dabrowski, CASE Fellow at the CASE — Center for Social and Economic Research in Warsaw, Poland, has participated in every HSE April Conference since 2001, missing just the 2000 inaugural event.  A professor with decades of experience in the field of economics, Dr. Dabrowski’s current areas of expertise range from monetary and fiscal policies and political economies in transition to perspectives on European integration and European Neighborhood Policy. In advance of next week’s XV HSE April Conference, Dr. Dabrowski kindly took part in a brief interview with the HSE News Service.
