HSE students who are interested in moving from a dorm to an apartment can obtain financial support from the university. For the 2019/2020 academic year, HSE students who live in a dorm will be offered 1,350 monthly reimbursements amounting to RUB 10,000.

The registration of student organizations started on February 15, 2017. Registered organizations will receive a ‘guaranteed basic budget’ as well as other forms of support, such as the provision of premises, transport services, and information support. In April 2016 HSE Academic Council approved the new regulations for awarding performance bonuses to faculty members who are selected by students and alumni as the best teachers of the year. One fifth of all disciplines at HSE are taught in English. The classes are taught both by HSE lecturers and visiting international professors. For several years now, the curriculums have been published in Russian and English. Starting this year, exchange students can create their individual timetable with the help of online tool. For full-degree students, the timetable is now also available in English.

In 2015, a pilot mechanism for teaching quality assessment by students was introduced at HSE. Students can grade the courses and lecturers in the LMS system. In relation to this, many people have raised the question of how anonymity will be assured, since this might affect the honesty of the grades. The Higher School of Economics is introducing new requirements for staff’s personal pages. Our colleagues who conduct research and teach are now required to list the following identifiers on their pages: ORCID, Researcher ID, Scopus Author ID, SPIN-RSCI code, and Google Scholar. Ivan Sterligov, the head of the analytics department in the HSE Office of Academic Expertise, tells us why this will benefit both the university and the researchers themselves.
