On December 5,the Coursera: First Results roundtable will be held. Coursera, an international online educational platform, has been used for 12 HSE courses. This first cycle of courses has come to a close, with more than 340,000 students from around the world having signed up for HSE courses so far. Another 10 courses are currently open for registration.

On November 20-23, the National Communication Association (NCA) organized its 100^th conference in Chicago. Sergey Zverev, Oleg Kashirskikh, and Nelli Bachurina, all instructors in HSE’s School of Integrated Communications, presented papers at the conference and took part in a panel discussion as well.

Fourth-year students of the Economics  track have finished the Business Valuation lecture cycle carried out by University of Vigo (Spain) Professor Angel Barajas, who is the academic supervisory of the International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy.

HSE Perm has hosted the second International Conference on Applied Research. The conference drew Russian and international experts. Participants discussed theoretical models of economic processes, public-private partnership, intellectual capital, market development etc.

Students on the MA Experience Economy: Hospitality and Tourism Management course at HSE’s Moscow campus, who graduated from the Management Faculty at HSE Perm have been praised by international experts for their contribution to major international conferences.

International Interdisciplinary Conference ‘Time and Temporality in Theme Parks’  was organized at Gutenberg University (Mainz, Germany) on September 18-20. The conference consisted of several panels focused on a wide range of topics: theme parks in the U.S., theme park theory, urbanism in American imagery, and more.

From the 5 -9 August the Fourth Global International Studies Conference organised by the World International Studies Committee took place in Frankfurt. The dean of the the HSE Social Studies Faculty, Andrei Melville, spoke in his capacity as Chairman of the Programme Committee.

From July 7−18, 2014, a seminar called ‘Russia and Global Food Security’ took place as part of the HSE Summer University.

On May 23, 2014 HSE Perm’s Department of Foreign Languages announced the winners of its annual English language Olympiad for first-year students of all departments. The goal of the Olympiad was to identify students who have a deep knowledge of the subject.

The XI Russian and German research conference on structural reforms to stimulate regional economic growth took place at the HSE Saint Petersburg.

Researchers believe that the educational system both reproduces inequality and promotes social mobility. On April 16, 2014, an international conference ‘School Choice and School Differentiation in Comparative Perspective’ ended in St. Petersburg. The event was organized by the HSE Education and Science Sociology Laboratory.

Julia Lajus, Associate Professor at HSE Faculty of History, Senior Researcher, Center for Historical Research, HSE St. Petersburg, Co-chair of the Master’s programme in Applied and Interdisciplinary History and Vice President of the European Society for Environmental History (ESEH), spoke to the HSE English language news Portal about the subject of a conference hosted by the Faculty of History at St. Petersburg campus on 28-29 March 'A Usable Past: Applied and Interdisciplinary History'.
