Evgeny Yasin to Head Council on the Role of Civil Society and Human Rights in Economic Modernization

Evgeny Yasin, Academic Supervisor at HSE, has been named head of the Russian Presidential Council for Civil Society Institutions Development and Human Rights. The decision by the Council follows an initiative by Irina Khakamada, who previously headed the council.

On 15th September theInternational College of Economics and Finance ICEF held its Graduation ceremony at the British Ambassador’s residence in Moscow for the 15th year in a row. Evgeny Yasin joins the Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights

On August 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a directive appointing HSE Academic Supervisor Evgeny Yasin to the Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights. His candidacy was proposed by Council head Mikhail Fedotov.

Russian Economy May Face Mobilisation

The current crisis in Russia is different from all others in its heightened uncertainty and unpredictable consequences, and recent events are comparable to the transformative crisis that occurred in Russia in the 1990s, the Director of the Centre of Development Institute, Natalia Akindinova, and HSE Academic Supervisor Evgeny Yasin said in their paper ‘A New Stage of Economic Development in Post-Soviet Russia.’ The researchers propose four possible scenarios for how the Russian economy might change, the most probable of which, they posit, is a so-called ‘mobilisation scenario.’

Evgeny Yasin is 81

On May 7th 2015 HSE’s Academic Supervisor Evgeny Yasin celebrated his 81st birthday. There’s hardly a soul in HSE who needs to be told just how much Professor Yasin has done for the university. He isn’t only the initiator of research at HSE. It is thanks to him, and some like-minded people, that the university actually came to life. What began as a university for graduates, has rapidly, and uniquely, become one of the top universities in the country.
