Volunteering
Volunteering is an essential part of life at HSE, and more and more students join the volunteer movement every year. Volunteers work at university events, take part in charity projects, and share their experiences at the festival ‘Heroes Among Us’.
Becoming a volunteer at HSE is easy. Any student and university event is always in the need of people, so you can simply choose what is interesting for you, and contact the organizers.

Charity
‘Open Your Eyes’ is one of the biggest charity projects at HSE, launched by Ingrup StS in 2008. They focus on four key areas: special needs children and adults, the elderly and animal shelters. Every month, the members attend children’s and old people’s homes and present workshops, quests, and concerts. They also organize charity fairs, collections of necessary things and gifts at HSE, and organize the big annual festival ‘Heroes Among Us’.

33 is the number of trips to orphanages and elderly care homes made by ‘Open Your Eyes’ volunteers over the last academic year. Another 16 events were organized at HSE.
The ‘Heroes Among Us’ festival brings together the HSE community, who are involved in charity. It brings together student initiatives with representatives of Russia’s biggest charity funds in order to discuss charity development in Russia. The festival offers fairs and workshops, with all profits going to charity funds.

HSE Outreach is the oldest charity at our university. They organize regular bake sales, where they raise funds for charity.

Almost 180 000 roubles were raised by HSE Outreach volunteers last academic year from all Bake Sales (12 Bake Sales in various HSE buildings).

HSE organizes regular blood donation drives, where students, teachers and staff can participate. Furthermore, the Armenian Club, together with Europe’s biggest blood transfusion centre, organizes big Donor Days once in several months.

HSE has a Best Buddies Club, which part of the international Best Buddies association, which helps people with developmental disabilities get new opportunities and find new friends. The club at HSE finds such friends among our students.

HSE in the city
Despite having a distributed campus, with buildings throughout city, HSE people just can’t stay within its own walls. We are keen to launch extramural projects and invite everyone who doesn’t have a permanent pass to HSE to join them. HSE is involved in the Open University project, which organizes regular open (and totally free) lectures by HSE professors, workshops, exhibitions, festivals, and educational projects, which presents research findings to city residents. These lectures take place in Gorky Park and VDNKh in the summer and at Moscow museums and cultural centres during the winter.
