Students Immerse Themselves in Russian Culture

On October 10, 2025, lecturers of the School of Russian as a Foreign Language and students of HSE International Prep Year, as well as students of the master's program «Russian as a Foreign Language in Cross-Linguistic and Cross-Cultural Perspective» took part in the "Russian Culture Day". Participants enjoyed a variety of activities including traditional workshops that highlighted Russia's rich cultural heritage. The engaging program aimed to foster greater understanding and appreciation for Russian traditions.

Attending Russian Culture Day at HSE University was an unforgettable experience! As an international student, it was amazing to explore such a vibrant culture. We danced to Russian folk songs, played traditional instruments, tried folk art, and dressed up in beautiful traditional outfits. The pastries and drinks were absolutely delicious!

The recent Russian Culture Day was an eye opener! I have not experienced such a deep great culture display before compared to many nations. It was top-notch; Russians are wonderful people and after the celebration, I have come to believe that Russia is the greatest and richest when it comes to culture!

The Russian Culture Day at the Higher School of Economics was an enriching and memorable experience. During the event, we gained valuable insights into the essence of Russian culture, including its traditional music and musical instruments.

Moreover, we learned about the country’s natural beauty and various cities, which enhanced our understanding of Russia’s diversity. The exhibition of traditional foods, garments, and other cultural elements provided a comprehensive view of the authentic Russian lifestyle. Overall, the event significantly deepened my appreciation and knowledge of Russian cultural heritage.

This festival allowed participants not only to learn more about Russian culture but also to meet a variety of people. We are all from all over the world, but we all gathered in one place because Russian culture and the Russian language are so appealing.

Russian Culture Day exposes students at HSE to Russian practices and encourages them to embrace it with great joy. Part of what makes Russian Culture Day so exciting for students is that traditional Russian symbols suddenly materialize before them – no sooner had they stepped into the atrium than they were surrounded by traditional Russian music played by musician in national dress and the pastry Russian cuisine is famous for.
