The professional competition was held in three consecutive stages from May to September, providing a comprehensive assessment of the participants' competencies. The first stage, held from May 12 to June 6, involved collecting and evaluating applicants' portfolios. The highest-performing participants advanced to the second stage (June 20 – July 8), which included a qualifying test in Russian language and teaching methods. Additionally, during this period, participants were required to prepare a creative assignment in the form of a 15-minute video presentation, clearly demonstrating their practical experience and original methods for teaching Russian as a foreign language. The final round, held from September 29–30, concluded with the selection of the winners.

All finalists successfully completed the continuing professional education (CPE) program, which included a distance-learning course and an in-person educational module at MSLU, which included practical classes and master classes. In addition, participants were given the opportunity to travel as Russian language lecturers to countries where Rossotrudnichestvo has representative offices to teach Russian as a foreign language for one month.
