7th International RLMS-HSE User Conference, 23-24 May, 2025

We are pleased to announce that the 7th International Russia Longitudinal Monitoring Survey of HSE (RLMS-HSE) User Conference took place on 23-24 May, 2025 at the Moscow campus of the National Research University Higher School of Economics.

7th International RLMS-HSE User Conference, 23-24 May, 2025

For fifteen years, leading scholars from around the globe have been convening at the RLMS-HSE user conference to discuss key trends in the development of post-Soviet Russia. As this year's conference coincided with the thirtieth anniversary of the RLMS-HSE project, over three hundred participants gathered to celebrate and discuss pressing socioeconomic and demographic issues with the aid of the RLMS-HSE data. Nine conference sessions featured 34 research papers, and the most vibrant discussions centred on such topics as employment, household income and consumption in the context of the current sanctions imposed on the Russian economy. The sessions also focused on trends in inequality, with a particular emphasis on health inequality, poverty, education and human capital, as well as marriage and family in modern Russia.

The conference program is currently available online at the following address: https://www.hse.ru/rlms/conference2025

The RLMS-HSE project team thanks all participants and guests of the conference for their presentations and fruitful discussions. Please note that the RLMS-HSE data is available online on the project website. We are committed to providing researchers with reliable and representative data for studying long-term trends in demographic and socioeconomic development of Russia.

We would like to draw the attention of our regular users and especially newcomers to the fact that we have started to make previously closed survey variables publicly available. The variables relate to financial behavior and lifestyle choices, leisure, non-cognitive skills, maternity capital, attitudes towards migrants and other important issues. Please refer to the following link for details on the variables: https://www.hse.ru/en/rlms/new5-23
