List of documents needed to apply for a PhD degree

1. Application to the dissertation council (1 copy);

2. Manuscript of the dissertation in Russian or English (digital media) (1 copy);

3. Copies of academic papers on the topic of the dissertation (hard copy and digital media).

Requirements to publications

4. Abstract of the dissertation in Russian and English (hard copy and digital media) (1 copy);

5. Copy of Bachelor’s or Master’s degree certificate, authorized as per established procedure (1 copy);

6. Copy of a certificate on the completion of a doctoral programme, with attachments (if applicable), authorized as per established procedure (1 copy);

or

6. Certificate on passing a PhD exam in the appropriate field (with the exception of PhD applicants who have completed a doctoral programme in the appropriate field) (1 copy);

If an applicant has passed an exam outside of HSE, the option of giving it consideration at HSE shall be reviewed by the dissertation council. There are no other requirements to pass other PhD (qualification) exams;

7. Conclusion of the dissertation applicant’s home institution (1 copy);

8. Review by the academic supervisor, certified by their employer (1 copy).

1. Application to the dissertation council (1 copy);

2. Manuscript of the dissertation in Russian or English (digital media) (1 copy);

If the dissertation has been defended as an academic paper:

3. Copies of academic papers on the topic of the dissertation (hard copy and digital media).

Requirements to publications

4. Abstract of the dissertation in Russian and English (hard copy and digital media) (1 copy);

5. Copy of Bachelor’s or Master’s degree certificate and copy of the certificate on the completion of a doctoral programme, with attachments (if applicable), authorized according to established procedure (1 copy);

6. Copy of Candidate of Sciences or PhD degree certificate issued in a foreign state, if the appropriate academic degree is acknowledged in the Russian Federation (1 copy);

7. If the dissertation was completed not at HSE – conclusion from the home institution (1 copy).

If the dissertation was completed at HSE – conclusion on the dissertation issued by the department where the applicant is employed (1 copy):

8. Review by an academic adviser (if applicable) (1 copy).
