HSE School of Philology Attends Conference in Cologne

On October 7-11 the international conference ‘Reviving Visions: Artists and Scholars that Connected East and West’ marking the launch of a joint MA programme between HSE, the University of Cologne and the University of Warsaw, was held in Cologne. Students and staff from the HSE School of Philology took part in the event.

There were two sections of the conference: one for students and the other for professors. The six best student reports were presented in front of the professors.

The following HSE students and lecturers gave papers at the conference: Tatiana Ageenko (The Reception of Sophie de Ségur in Russia), Alexandra Mazur (N.V. Gogol’ and the Nazarenes), Maria Krivosheina (English Literature and the ‘Great Game’ in Late Imperial Russia), Elena Penskaja (Mondialiazation of Culture and Overcoming of the Boundaries in German, Polish and Soviet Travelogues before the Second World War), and Oleg Lekmanov (East and West in the Work of Ivan Bunin).
