Interview with Pekka Sutela, Professor at the Aalto University, Helsinki. 20 years until March this year he worked at the Central Bank of Finland. Pekka Sutela was a participant of the international symposium ‘Twenty Years: Political and Economic Evolution in Post-communist Europe’ which was held at the HSE from May 23rd – May 25th.
On March 15th a seminar entitled ‘On the Twists of the Modernity’ took place at the HSE, where Yossi Tavor, First Secretary of the Embassy of Israel in Russia, read a lecture for the students of the HSE Faculty of Philosophy School of Asian Studies.
On March 15th a regular seminar of the HSE Institute for Educational Studies took place, dedicated to the problem of accessibility to education for children from various social groups around the world. Jamil Salmi, coordinator of the World Bank's network of tertiary education professionals, spoke on ‘Equality and the Human Capital Development: the Role of Higher Education’.
On November 29th Howard Davies, Director of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), gave a public lecture at the HSE cultural center on ‘Europe — the lost continent?’. The meeting was organized by the HSE International College of Economics and Finance.
On October 4th a special session of the Political Economy research seminar took place at the HSE Faculty of Economics. Yang Yao, Deputy Dean of the National School of Development and Professor at the Center for Economic Research, Beijing University, spoke about ‘Equality, the Disinterested Government, and Economic Growth: The Case of China’.
