Student Performance Assessment (SPA)
Understanding SPA
Student Performance Assessment (SPA) is the number of courses in which a student has unsatisfactory grades based on the results of examination periods.
Students can track their SPA in the LMS electronic gradebook.
How and When SPA is Calculated
SPA is calculated as the number of unsatisfactory grades without valid reasons and/or unexcused absences from interim assessments, independent exams, and external assessments.
The programme manager calculates the SPA within ten business days after each examination period and the retakes.
SPA Calculation Criteria
Critical SPA Threshold
SPA=2 is the critical value, meaning that a student has two academic failures and is allowed to retake them. Receiving a third unsatisfactory grade (SPA=3) may lead to dismissal.
For students in specific categories, if exceeded for the first time, the critical value is SPA=5. After that, regular SPA=2 rules apply to determine whether the student can continue studies.
Students whose SPA exceeds the critical value (taking into account their category and whether it is a repeated occasion) are dismissed for failure to master their degree programme diligently and follow the curriculum.

Examples of SPA Calculation
SPA=0 signifies the student has no academic failures.
SPA=2 indicates the student has a manageable number of academic failures, permitting exam retakes.
SPA=4 suggests a significant number of academic failures, risking dismissal for not fulfilling their obligations to diligently pursue the degree programme and follow the curriculum.
