The Higher School of Economics (HSE) organizes Winter Schools each year for senior students and graduates. The participants meet leading Russian and foreign specialists, famous politicians, and researchers, and also learn about Russian culture and traditions. Over the short course, students study the basics of Russian and put their new language skills to use in interacting with professors and students (who also speak English).
On January 31st – February 3rd 2016, the Winter School of the Faculty of Social Sciences was held at the ‘Voronovo’ Learning Centre, HSE. During the event, potential master’s students took part in master classes, business cases and meetings with students and graduates of the faculty’s educational programmes.
On February 4-8 of next year, the Faculty of Mathematics is hosting a Winter School at Voronovo, a special conference centre in the Moscow region with lodging and recreational facilities.
On 31st January to 2nd February 2015 HSE held its annual International Winter School. The Department of Public Policy and Master Programme in Political Analysis and Public Policy headed by professor Nina Belyaeva took part in the event. During its presentation the Department of Public Policy decided to switch away from the usual lecture format and involve the participants in a lively debate on global issues.
From January 24 to February 4, HSE's Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs hosted an international winter school. Sixty students from across the globe (Korea, Japan, China, Germany, Italy, Poland, Egypt, Morocco, to name but a few) came together for 12 days and were plunged into the hustle and bustle of daily life in Russia.
