The Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs hosted the 2016 International Winter School, which focused on contemporary world politics, Russian language and culture. Courses offered addressed the Russian Federation’s international economic and political strategy, its relations with leading countries, issues of social changes in modern society, and political transformation in the international arena.
The school covers two master’s programmes: Mathematics (conducted in English) and Mathematical Physics (conducted in Russian). World-leading experts answer students’ questions; give lectures on contemporary problems in Mathematical Sciences and on applications of Mathematics.
The school explores biopolitics, focusing on global migration issues and refugee problems. The regular venue for the School is the Kääriku Leisure and Sports Center, situated 40km from Tartu and perfectly equipped for both studying and engaging in sporting activities.
The Faculty of Social Sciences held the Winter School for prospective students who wish to apply for HSE Master's programmes. The school programme included the presentation of Master programmes in the areas of 'Sociology', 'Political science', 'Public Administration', 'Psychology' and 'Public Policy', lectures by leading specialists of the faculty and live communication with them. Participants were acquainted with the rules of admission to the programmes and the university entrance requirements.
