Kosmas  Marinakis, Ph.D., has been employed by the HSE as an Assistant Professor of Economics (tenure track) since September 2012. Currently he teaches at ICEF and the Faculty of Economic Sciences. Before that Kosmas held academic positions in the US and Cyprus.

He received his Bachelor degree in Athens University of Economics and Business (Greece, 2002) and continued his studies in the USA: MSc Economics (Minor in Statistics), North Carolina State University (USA, 2004). In 2008, he got Ph.D. in Economics (North Carolina State University, USA).

At ICEF, Kosmas Marinakis is a lecturer for Industrial Economics (4th year) and for Microeconomics (2nd year) at the Faculty of Economic Sciences.  For Kosmas, managing a course is like running a small company. He exerts significant effort to make the lectures interesting and to connect them to the real world with several real life examples and case studies.

Students appreciate Kosmas’ direct style of teaching, the quality of lectures, the real-life economic stories that make the theory easier to understand, and his way of simplifying the hard parts of the material. Students often mention his excellent sense of humor and his skill to make classes interactive and interesting. Kosmas’ philosophy is that HSE students are the best and they should be treated as such. His courses are taught in a strictly professional and disciplined environment. He dedicates time to inspire work ethics to his students, so they will be well prepared to become top professionals in their sphere once they graduate. He takes a hard line on cheating. Not surprisingly, for the last 3 years he has been continuously elected by the students as the best teacher. In 2014 he was a research advisor to the student who won in research contest for presenting the best paper in Economics.

Kosmas has developed a set of excellent study materials for the students and detailed guidelines for the course personnel for both of his courses at ICEF and the Faculty of Economic Sciences. He also maintains a state-of-the-art website for his courses, where students can find everything they need for the course in one place.

To share his great experience and communications skills Kosmas developed an innovative short course - Public Speaking Seminar Series. The course was designed to teach students the art of public speaking. Kosmas shares the secrets, gives tips, provides examples, develops cases, gives do's and don’ts of how to present work successfully in front of an audience. The course is increasing in popularity and last year more than 320 HSE students received a certificate of attendance for completing the short course.

We know that Kosmas has a considerate attitude to the students.  He is ready to share his experience and provide guidance on the courses he is teaching. Students can make an online appointment to visit his office hours.

Kosmas Marinakis is ready to share his experience with colleagues. His presentations at the ICEF events, e.g. ICEF Teaching Day are always interesting and thought - provoking. He has spoken both about the challenges that university teachers face today and his own approach to marking student papers and giving feedback. At the MSc programme, Kosmas coordinates the work (exam tasks development, marking scheme) of the HSE MSc Olympics for those who apply to the ICEF «Financial Economics» MSc programme.

His teaching success is proved easily – full lecture room! For last 4 years his elective course on Industrial Economics at ICEF has grown from 18 to 127 students. Each year nearly 400 young economists listen to his Microeconomics lectures with delight and try not to miss any. Students say that Kosmas Marinakis is a great teacher and a charismatic person who is able to inspire and motivate to study hard. He definetely helped some of them to start loving Economics and understand why they decided to be economists! Such evaluation of Kosmas’ efforts is a true merit! We wish him good luck!

In my experience, competent teachers are not rare but passionate teachers are. Dr. Marinakis is indeed one of the very few truly passionate teachers I've met: passionate about his subject, passionate to teach, passionate to see his students grow as economists. Combine this passion with his presentation skills and his willingness to listen to students' feedback and you get one of the best teachers in HSE. He truly deserves this award.

Prof. Marinakis has a powerful voice to lead people into intellectual curiosity. Generally you get bored with the lecture with just note-taking and listening to teacher. However Dr.Marinakis has a eloquent talent that leads people into his world of economics. He is very good at explaining things more simple than usual. It is definitely a precious experience for you. Prof. Marinakis is a symbol of professionalism of HSE and ICEF specifically. One may argue for his other great traits of character, but I truly believe that all of them come from his intention "to do business". From the very first lecture he strikes as a professional in his field and supports this impression through interactions with him, whether it is a request for a recommendation or dispute over an academic topic. Also all of his actions inspire others to keep on the same level of professionalism and take the education seriously. Kosmas Marinakis deserves this award more than any other professor at HSE.

In my hoble opinion, Industrial Economics is one of the most interesting courses taught during the fourth year of ICEF, and of course the main reason for this are the teaching skills of Dr. Marinakis. He easily holds the class attention, and provides students with both important and understandable information. I wish to thank Dr. Marinakis for all the effort put into this course and wish him good luck in this competition!

Dr. Marinakis is a great person, a great lecturer and a real professional! Attending his lectures and following him is really exciting, as lectures are interesting and in addition they are accompanied with real life examples and stories. That is how Dr. Marinakis make information easy to understand and that is one of the reasons why it is easy to follow him. He really cares about the quality of his work. Quality of presentations, of explanation; his continuous "fights" with administration, in order to get a better classroom, where everyone will see the slides and sit with comfort. That is how he works and that is great! For me, that is a pleasure to be his student, to study Industrial Economics under his supervision. As industrial organization has been the field of my interest for a long time, I am really happy that Kosmas is my lecturer on this course. Dr. Marinakis, thank you for your great work and good luck in this competition! I am absolutely sure that you deserve the 1st place =)

In my student life I have met many professors, but I can say confidently that Kosmas Marinakis is one of a few lecturers that I really like and respect him. He is such a clever, interesting and diligent person. Generally I do not attend the lectures, because I think that it would be better to read the material at home, but although this I consider that his lectures of microeconomics were the only ones, that were useful for me. He is very cool speaker and he knows how to explain the complex material to all students in auditorium. His every word has an important meaning and he has a talent to keep in tuch with whole auditorium. And besides that, he has excellent knowledges. In my opinion the combination of all this skills and qualities that have Kosmas Marinakis, makes him a great professor. If I was a jury member, I would not even think who deserves the Golden Vyshka award, because this person is definitely Kosmas Marinakis! :)

In my opinion, Professor Kosmas Marinakis is the one who truly deserves the prize. After 4 years at ICEF I can say that he is my most favorite lecturer, and I am more than sure that he is one of the best at HSE. He can make students listen, and I wasn’t an exception. I was taking notes and writing down everything he taught us during Industrial Economics class. His lectures are always so interesting and engaging, and what's important he is open to discussions and encourages his students to share their opinion. Moreover, his classes are not fully theoretical. He always supports theory with the real cases that help to understand practical application. Finally, he is passionate about everything he does and fills with this energy and attitude his students.
That’s why I think he is the best candidate for this award

Professor Kosmas Marinakis is one of my most favorite professors at ICEF. He is very passionate about teaching young and bright minds. Professor was very helpful and supportive in many instances, especially in pursuit of knowledge within or outside the scope of the course.

I was a student in Industrial Economics class. Even though it is not a field of my particular interest, I enjoyed every one of professor's lectures. His ability to motivate and make a class interesting is second to none. Not only he presents the material in a way it is fascinating, but also professor facilitates and encourages discussion within the class, what in my opinion makes the whole process of learning even more beneficial and enjoyable. Without a doubt, I would recommend taking his class to anyone who even remotely interested in economics.

To sum up, I think professor deserves to win because he raises the standard of teaching to new heights.

There exist such a term perfectionist and this is what my teacher Kosmas Marinakis is. What me personally liked about his course is that he always try to make it consistent and logical, not missing a single detail to be confusing. By this I was inspired in conducting my own seminars. Also he is just a master of public speaking. His artistic abilities served in totally temperate manner is also a thing I am trying to adopt. Thank you for teaching me as well as for supporting. I wish you good luck!

For me Industrial Economics became the most interesting and exciting couse, that I had in all 4 years in ICEF. It even helped me to understand better other courses, that where connected with IE. This is because of the effort that Kosmas has put in his teaching. It was the only lecture that was a MUST to attend, and not because it was controled in any way, but because it was so valuable for understanding the material and enjoyable overall!

Kosmas Marinakis is one of the best lecturers I have ever attended. He is a master of presentation that keeps the audience always on the hook from the beginning to an end. He is a talented economist and a born teacher that is truly passionate about his job. During the year that I have attended his course my attitude to economics itself and to learning in general has changed significantly and in a positive manner. And that change is to his credit.

I think Kosmas is the best candidate for a Golden Vyshka award.

Kosmas could and did make us exited about his course; he passed his enthusiasm and energy to every person in the classroom. I particularly enjoyed his lectures - they were given in a form of a dialogue and Kosmas ensured every student was involved. I should also note his talent to explain economic theory through very interesting and up-to-date live examples - that was and I guess still is his distinctive feature and a 'shtick'. I believe he really deserves this Award and wish him good luck!

Kosmas was teaching me on my final year in ICEF and I strongly believe that he was one of the best teachers I had in my life.
I really liked that he is not jut giving lectures, but actually involves students into the conversation, teaching them not only the Economics, but how to think and to protect their opinion. His lectures were very clear, fun and the theory was supported with real life examples.
However, in addition to his experience and knowledge, I would like to mention his personal qualities too. He knows when to be both strict or supportive to the students and his love to the subject and teaching actually motivated me and many of my classmates to go beyond the limits.
I think that he truly deserves this award.

Kosmas Marinakis was my lecturer of microeconomics for 1 module last year. I really enjoyed his classes. Kosmas knows how to attract attention of students to his subject. The way how he presents new material and his well-structured, interesting presentation were perfect. The process of studying was not boring thanks to real-life examples, funny stories. He is always ready to answer your questions, explain one more time something. For him, it is important not just to present the material, his aim is to make it understandable for everyone.
Later I attended the 3-Seminar Series of Public Speaking. On those seminars Kosmas Marinakis taught the audience how to create presentations, speak in public. He emphasize all things that require more attention. He is interested in his profession, thoroughly prepares for each lecture and inspires students to study his subject. Attendance was very high on all his lectures and seminars. For me, he is the best example of how to work with the audience.
I am sure, that Kosmas is very talented speaker and teacher. So, he really deserves the award he is nominated for!

You are not just a good teacher, you are an unique one! Some years ago I watched the film "Dead poets society", there is a teacher who teaches his students to trust their own beliefs and not to conform. I think you try to do the same, I mean that you not just teach microeconomics you encourage your students to be honest, reliable, punctual and to stand for our words, I think that`s great! I believe that there is no such consept "too many teachers" and you are one of the best teachers I`v ever met!

Kosmas is an excellent teacher, who motivates his students to do their best and to really understand the process of modern economics. He brought many innovations in studying process, he combined theory&practice during the lessons and, definitely, his lessons were one of the most interesting and practice-oriented among other disciplines in ICEF.

Kosmas Marinakis is one of the few lecturers that I will surely remember from my university years. He taught Microeconomics on the second year and made the subject very easy to understand and the lectures pleasant to attend. I was also able to assess Mr. Marinakis at his extra course "Public Speaking" which also contained enough useful information on how to behave at presentations and speeches. Finally, I would say that It had been very beneficial to university if every teacher was able to deliver information to the audience in the way that Mr. Marinakis does.

1. Kosmas was my supervisor during 2 years at ICEF. I would say that it was good pleasure to work with him for my diploma paper. He spent enormous amount of time to help me with advise about diploma topic specifics and how correctly to do my work. His professional behavior motivated me to produce extra results.

2. He also was a lecturer at subject Industrial Economics. His lectures were interesting and I saw that Kosmas always tried to do his best. I think he exceeded expectations of many students and that motivated them to work hard at his subject. Therefore I am certain that among lecturers at ICEF he is one of the best.

Kosmas, good luck! I believe that you are the person who have to win this nomination.

It's hard to imagine a teacher more deserving of the award than Kosmas Marinakis.
His knowledge of Industrial Economics, combined with great public speaking skill (and also good sense of humor) made learning that subject a sheer pleasure. The greatest feature of the course, in my opinion, was that for every piece of theory, there was a case or an example from real life.
Knowledge and understanding of the subject, however, were not the only things me and my classmates learned. Kosmas' commitment to ethics and discipline is also valuable, and definitely changes the academia for the better.

To sum it up, "10/10 would recommend".

Kosmas Marinakis taught me Industrial Economics at my final year in ICEF. I had the opportunity to compare him to all the professors I had in previous years. And I can surely say, that there are at least 3 great things about him:

1. He is excellent at keeping the public's attention in class. I can't remember any case of students acting naughty or talking at his lecture. He always created the right mood in class, which made us focus and concentrate on the subject.

2. He created a great curriculum. The structure of his lectures is so thoughtful and useful - there is no waste, not a single word that could mislead or cause unnecessary questions. Unfortunately, there are many lecturers at ICEF, whose classes leave students with a mess in their heads, causing more questions than giving actual knowledge. Luckily, Kosmas is not one of them.

3. It may sound funny, but his lectures are saving students' money:) It's not a secret that many of ICEF students have to constantly study with tutors, even if they visit all the lectures and seminars. The structure of the courses is often so confused, that it is impossible for an average student to cope with the curriculum without the help of extra paid tutors. And their services are sooo costly!
But Kosmas explains every single conception of Industrial Economics so clearly, that there is no need in external help. A student can feel safe with such a great professor: all that he needs to do is to listen carefully and practice at the seminars (which are also very useful, by the way). As a result - all students get high-quality knowledge without wasting parents' money.

I really hope that his approach to study will be rewarded by our beloved university. Kosmas makes a great impact on students, and all our support shows how we value him.

Kosmas, thank you for being with us, we all wish you good luck!

Kosmas taught Industrial Economics during my final year at ICEF. He's a teaching miracle, having managed to involve absolutely everyone during his lectures and seminars with his ability to explain complex material in a simple, understandable language, and also by exerting an enormous amount of positivity that encouraged so many students. And I am not commenting on his Public Speaking masterclasses, it is a must-go for any HSE student! Kosmas is a true definition of an ideal teacher, who really deserves this Award.

Kosmas Marinakis taught us only 1 module of Microeconomics, as it has been already mentioned, however, that was the module I understood best of all and even after 2 years I still remember a lot from it. Kosmas' approach to teaching is aimed to stretch the students' thinking and to make them understand, rather than memorize, the essence of the course. He was also professionally combining various evaluation techniques that required to focus on various aspects and trained us to work in different paces, thus providing us with comprehensive self-management training. Finally, for me Kosmas is the best example on how to work with the audience during a class or a presentation, and I would be very glad to attend his course on Public Speaking when I come back to Russia.

I am proud to have been one of Kosmas' students and I am confident that he deserves the award he is nominated for. Wish you all the best, Professor!

I am very lucky to have met Professor Marinakis during my BSc studies at ICEF. I like him both as a very good teacher and as a wise mentor. His manner to encourage student's engagement in his classes and organize chaotic information are magic. The last class I attended was the class of Public Speaking in 2016, where the audience was in complete silence and fully concentrated on the lectures of Dr. Marinakis. He is a person that always does his best, who is very demanding and not indifferent to his students, always ready to help and prepare them to be a step ahead of the others. This is what I valued the most. Thank you, Dr. Marinakis!

Kosmas Marinakis has only taught us 1 module of microeconomics out of 4, unfortunately. And I can say that the themes he taught are the most understandable, easy to remember and interesting. He let us know perfectly the structure of study, requirements etc. He was very positive and could keep our attention for a long time. The formula of final mark was also good.
I would like to wish Kosmas Marinakis all the best in his life and job. He deserves this award!

During my 4 years of studying at ICEF, Kosmas has been one of the few people who was able to interest me in his subject, while presenting it in an efficient and professional manner. I deem him to be most worthy of this award.

I like Kosmas Marinakis very much. He made difficult concepts easy to understand. He appears to be really open to communication with the students.

I would like to see more teachers like Kosmas in this university, because he is a professional and he is very good at teaching.

Kosmas Marinakis is the only teacher who made me like the economics. He is focused on practical skills and main details of the course. It was very easy to contact him during the office hours and ask questions, moreover, the lecture slides were always clear, well prepared and then posted on his site.
I am very thankful for the experience which I got during his lectures. Basics of the game theory and price discrimination will stay with me unlike other parts of the 4 module course.

Kosmas Marinakis was teaching Microeconomics at my faculty in the first module this year. As a professor of a great talent he made everybody to be absolutely involved in the studying process during his lectures. When we came to his classes we felt that he really cares if we understand the material or not. He did his best to find the most appropriate way to teach us, to make us interested in subject. I can say that one of his most amazing skills is the ability to understand students, to make the whole atmosphere of studying comfortable for everyone. His methods of teaching and communicating with us lead to high results. I really enjoyed studying with him!

Kosmas Marinakis was teaching Microeconomics at my faculty a year ago. Before attending his lectures Microeconomics seemed to me pretty boring. However, Kosmas made them the most intersting hours of my study at HSE. To my mind, he absolutely loves teaching Microeconomics, telling interesting examples and interacting with students. Moreover, he has transfered his love to science to the majority of students. Many students have become good friends with Kosmas after that amazing experience.

I wish the other lecturers teaching at HSE became a bit more like Kosmas. Being a wonderful person and teacher, he truly deserves the Golden Vyshka award!

Kosmas Marinakis was my lecturer in microeconomics. He is the best teacher I've ever had. The main reason is the way how he explains the material. Most part of the necessary information is presented on slides. Thus, you don't have to write down a lot and you can fully concentrate on understanding the subject. Another aspect is the attitude to students. Kosmas treated us more like friends whom he wanted to tell something interesting, rather than one more annoying group of students. He started the first lecture with explanation of the rules, he seemed to be a bit strict, even though all the rules were reasonable. However, during the next lectures students weren't chatting, not because of the rules, but because of the interest in subject and respect to the teacher.
P.S. The only lecturer whose lessons I've never skipped.

I was lucky to meet Prof. Marinakis at 3-days Public speaking seminar. It's hard to imagine more challenging personal skill as it's not easy to gain confidence and to get audience's attention. It is even more difficult to explain how to overcome these problems.

I was so surprised when Prof. Marinakis in a such a simple and attractive manner unveiled the secrets of successful public speech - the knowledge that not every speaker wants to share: he has taught us how not to afraid of speaking and to turn every presentation to a mini-performance as he has brilliantly shown himself. Prof. Marinakis has explained the theory in very clear and passionate way, and what is the most important, inspired me, a very shy person, to start working hard.

This is the most priceless result - not to force people to study, but to make them fall in love into what they are trying to learn and understand and to wake up their desire to improve themselves.

The only thing I regret is that Prof. Marinakis has lectures only at the ICEF: I hope that one day he will reveal miracles of microeconomics to students also at the faculty of economics!

Kosmas Marinakis is absolutely amazing professor, whose lectures on Industrial Economics were comprehensive, informative and totally enjoyable. His dedication and passion to teaching his subject always amazed and motivated me to study harder, so I passed final exam without any troubles.

Students value his professional attitude and quality of lectures, his ability to make classes interactive and engaging, and also his fantastic sense of humor. Kosmas truly cares about students, making an enormous effort to keep course material understandable and interesting, and to inspire students to study economics outside university course.

Without any doubt he is the one who totally deserves this award.

Kosmas is an outstanding teacher. He makes people being interested in subjects, which are usually viewed by most people as useless and dumb. He is absolutely confident while teaching, provides lots of examples and makes sure, that everyone understands. If every teacher taught as Kosmas do, then HSE would be a much better place. In my opinion, he absolutely deserves to win this nomination.

Kosmas was teaching a class of Microeconomics at my faculty (economic sciences) and despite the fact that the material at the first glimpse seemed easy and quite dull (especially for those who already knew micro at that level) professor made it incredibly interesting. The whole course was awesome: lectures, website with materials, home assignments, strict position on cheating, I mean, everything was just great. So, I think in terms of teaching Kosmas is surely one of the brightest professors out there. So, I strongly support his nomination of the award.

Kosmas Marinakis is one of the most bright professors in HSE. His lectures are very exciting. This professor knows a lot of interesting things, moreover he is very attentive to all the students. One of the big plusses of the teachering is that Kosmas understands the needs of students, he provides all necassary information for good understanding of the subject. With him microeconomics becomes more and more interesting from lesson to lesson. I was a free listener of his lectures and this knowledge helped me a lot even in my master's programm.
At one time I was on the exam of this professor - as an observer - thus I saw how all students were interested and not afraid of the exam, can suppouse that it was due to Kosmas Marinakis lessons.
Thus all the lessons with this professor are very useful.
Hope the support of the students will help him to take this award!
Wish all the best for you, Kosmas!

My name is Paul Jackson and I live in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. More importantly, I love economics! In part, this is due to Kosmas Marinakis. I returned to university late in life in 2005 at the age of 48 at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. Thirty plus years earlier, I was a chemistry major with a marine science concentration at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, along the Atlantic ocean. I had dropped out of my fourth year of university in 1980 and went on to work in radio broadcasting for nearly twenty years, including a brief time working in "offshore pirate radio" in international waters of the North Sea of the coast of the United Kingdom.

Finally, I found my way to return to university in 2005, I majored in Political Science with a Law & Justice curriculum. My International Relations professor told my class that if we intend to understand in the field of international relations, we had to take an economics course. Political Science did not have all the answers that I was looking for in society. So I declared a minor in economics and began the five course sequence, the next semester. This first class in economics was almost my last, due to the lack of quality in the teacher. Thank goodness the next class in microeconomics had a young Greek graduate student, teaching in his last summer with a freshly minted PhD in Economics from NCSU. I finally began to understand homo economicus.

Kos, as many of us referred to him, opened our eyes as students to the world of economics. He did not just teach the next paragraph from the book. He was homo economicus, the economic man, sharing real world examples with theoretical overlays explaining the economic phenomenon. His lectures were magical, captivating his students like a rock star. He would engage each student as he taught the entire class. You could see him gaze across the lecture hall as if to spot every sheep in his flock and to know he had our individual and collective attentions.

One morning, with an exam coming up, Kos overheard some of us planning on a study session to take place that evening in the near by nine story research library. Kos had no idea how long we would be working on material for the class, and he had absolutely no idea where in the nine story building we would be located. It was just after 11pm and we just happened to be near the seventh floor elevator, and guess who walked out to see if we were on the seventh floor? He had hunted us down on each floor going up and finally found us. Kos stepped into the study room complete with lecture board and took command of our study group asking us where we had just left off and what areas were we having problems in the material for the exam. All of us were blown away! I have never seen such passion to teach, passion for his students to succeed, passion to engage those in his life! This was the economic man, Kosmas Marinakis!

One last thing to share with you all and this gets to the bottom of why Kos is special. And why HSE is very fortunate. One day after class, I was the last out as usual, Kos and I would have extemporaneous conversation many of days. But this one day, he had been exceptionally brilliant in his lecture. I told him that I wished to tell him something. I explained to him that somewhere in his past life, he had a teacher that touched him, a teacher that opened up a door of opportunity for him to walk through and discover a world he had never seen. A teacher that shared a key to unlock the potential within Kos to become a great teacher. Kos stood silent and could only look at me as if he was looking at a ghost and he said, "How do you know this?" It was as if I could see into his soul.

I told him it was the way he looked at his students, Kos teaches with his eyes. He communicates with his students by teaching into their souls, by gazing directly at them, both individually and collectively. I had a teacher like him thirty years earlier, much the way Kos had a similar teacher in his life, they all would look out across the lecture hall and know instinctively, whether any of their flock was lost. If so, then both Kos and my old mentor, would back up and regroup the herd, in order to move forward. They all had this incredible ability to captivate the class. This is the key to teaching small and large groups, Kos is a master at this technique, which is vital to students seeking to be exceptional in their academics. For students to have Kosmas Marinakis as a teacher, they are fortunate, to have him teach economics to them is an exceptional experience.

Thanks in part to Kos, I graduated with an undergraduate BA magna cum laude Political Science (Law & Justice with theory emphasis) with minor in Economics in 2010 from the School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA) and Poole College of Management (PCoM) at NCSU, Raleigh, NC, with honors in a national political science honors association and international economics honors association. Then I earned my Master of Economics degree from PCoM-NCSU and Graduate Certificate in Public Policy from the Public Administration program at SPIA-NCSU, both in 2013.

I am proud to call Kos a friend, mentor, and my professor.

I had micro course taught by Kosmas this year and it turned out to be the best course i have taken so far judging both by the way of presenting new material and making everything clear and simple. Professor Marinakis is a strict teacher but fair and very responsible. Somehow the lectures on microeconomics (which are usually are expected to be boring and hardly applicable to real life) appeared to be the most important and interesting times of the day, week and the whole studying process. Congratulations to Dr Marinakis on this nominations and good luck!

I should say that Kosmas Marinakis is one of the best proffesors in HSE. His lectures are always full of examples and plenty of interesting information. The way of teaching is also one of the most interactive and you will never get bored after 20 minutes from the beggining of the lecture. These all makes him the best condidate for the nomination.

As a foreign exchange student from KULeuven, I was very fortunate to get to choose this class for my exchange semester. Professor Marinakis in my eyes has a very good and much needed different approach to teaching economics at HSE, both managing to keep his audience attentive with lively and interesting classes and on the other hand pushing all students to the limit of their abilities, both mathematically and cognitive. He also maintains a strict order within the classroom and keeps students from drifting away or not paying attention by proactively asking them questions. On top of that, he is also a master in presentation skills and teaching in general, handling more difficult microeconomic topics with short but very intuitively clear anecdotes. He also took the time to give one on one feedback to students who did not perform well at the midterms and actively tried to inspire them to work harder, showing real care for his students. I think professor Marinakis brings a touch of foreign class and teaching to HSE which is undeniably one of the biggest strengths of the ICEF program and that's why he truly deserves the award for best professor. I would even claim he is one of the better professors I have had in any university I attended so far and would love to one day end up in his classroom once more.

I strongly agree with the nomination of Professor Marinakis!

Kosmas is one of the most exciting professors at ICEF. His lectures on Industrial Economics were one of the most interactive and interesting in the whole Bachelor course. It was really insightful to attend the course. One of the most important point is that Kosmas not only manages to keep audience interested in the subject but also does it in a very detailed, clear and professional way, allowing students to truly enjoy the learning process.

I highly appreciate the fact, that Dr. Marinakis was nominated and I think he has all the rights to win the award!

I attended Industrial Economic course of Professor Marinakis. I was left in awe of the course and suggest all prospective fourth-year students to take this subject.

First of all, course structure was very interesting, well structured and consistent. Before each exam we were explained in detail what material would be examined. What I especially want to note is that teacher did not assume that everyone truly understand previously studied material, but he always managed to quickly and clearly explain even some basic facts, so that no one was lost.

Secondly, I would like to thank professor for being a good speaker. All the lectures were enjoyable and I have never ever had a desire to check my phone or talk to a friend. There always was a perfect silent in the classroom and everyone listened carefully. It is worth noticing that Kosmas has a great sense of humor. His jokes together with some relevant stories and examples helped to understand and remember course material much easier.

Also, I want to mention that prof. Marinakis found time to educate us. He gave some very valuable life tips that I try to follow. In general, Kosmas is very open and friendly to all the students and he helped many of us by advice or action.

I consider Kosmas Marinakis to be one of the best lecturer at ICEF and I am very grateful to Professor for all he has done. I think that he truly deserves this award.

My congratulations to Professor Marinakis!
I would like to point out his dedication, passion and interest in the subject he is teaching. Actually not only in his subject, but the whole learning process, the desire to give students who really want this the chance to know more not just about Economics, but about public speaking or how to write a diploma paper or about politics. He is a true teacher with the desire to share knowledge.
The most respectful thing is that even he is a strict teacher, he requires no less from us than he does himself.
His well-thought lectures, bright examples from real life, his attitude towards students (the most representative case was when on our first exam he came to each and every one of the students in several rooms (!) to ask how one is doing on the exam and wish everyone luck) made me want to understand the subject better and deeper. With all responsibility I can say that he is the first teacher who made me really interested in this section of Economics.
Great thanks to Dr. Marinakis and I hope he will win the award because he most honestly deserves it.

First of all, I want to join everyone and congratulate Dr. Marinakis!
I am sincerely proud to be his student at ICEF. During the last four years I have been thinking about the possible ways of teaching that would make the studies useful and interesting at the same, that would make a student feel that by learning this subject he is developing not only in academic, but in a personal way as well. I believe that every subject can make a contribution to developing your own vision of the world, can help you analyse the world in different ways. I think that the way Kosmas is teaching this subject does exactly this - it makes you more professional on one hand, but also makes you think deeper than you are used you, helps you realize the world organisation. I am surely agree with all the words about his excellent presentation and communication skills, his clear subject structure and high level of proficiency and academic ethics.
He is certainly the one to win this competition!

My congratulations to Kosmas with this nomination!

Kosmas is truly one of the most "engaged" professors in HSE. His lectures on Industrial Economics are probably the only ones that keep me interested from the very beginning till the end. Kosmas always stays connected with the audience, he is always able to explain difficult things in an easy way. I've never seen any professor at HSE, who was so much eager to make students get the understanding of the subject.
I highly appreciate the fact, that Dr. Marinakis teaches students to think, rather than just memorize the material.

Kosmas is a strict teacher, but you always feel that he truly wants to help you and is always ready to give a needed advise, I think that it proves that professor Marinakis deserves the award!

Congratulations to professor Marinakis!
It was a pleasure to attend Kosmas' lectures. Professor Marinakis has an important quality for any lecturer: he knows how to develop a true interest to his subject. A lot of material was explained on the example of real-life cases, which made it easier to understand the underlying theory. But what is more important is that professor Marinakis was also giving us pieces of advice apart from our studies. Any discussion with our open-minded professor was a real pleasure, and I would like to thank Kosmas for his lectures and wish a good luck in this competition!

Dr. Marinakis was one of the best professors I've ever had in the University. I really appreciate the time he was our lector. It's due to two aspects: what he teached us and how he did it.

By "what" aspect I mean the contecst of tle lectures: the speach and the presentations. This was done brilliantly! The lectures were very understandable, even for those, whose english or math skills are mediocre. The information was presented in the way that everyone coul understand it. And, what is very nice too, we had anought time to copy all the information from slides we need (by the way, the slides were composed very good and they were really comfortable to use!) and, what is incredibly important too, we had an opportunity to ask questions and all our questions were answered.

And by "how" aspect I mean the atmosphere of the lectures and the attitude and way of teeching of Dr. Marinakis. This was wonderful too. I allways attended the lecture wis pleasure - this is something I really appreciate! The atmosphere was allvays positive, respectful and was to work hard and to learn new information. I didn't get tired or bored in the middle of the lecture, I hadn't any incentive to toch my phone and the thoughts like "oh God when finisshes it?" never came to my mind. This was due to hard work of Dr. Marinakis because he allways tried to make his subject interesting for us and he looked carefully for the mood of the audiens due to make a joke or give us funny story tte time it was needed.
And, what is extremely important too, Dr. Marinakis let us enter the lecture after its start. This was saving me from starvation :)

So I suppose that Dr. Marinakis is the person who is really worthi of this award!

I have met only several professors that can keep you concentrated during the whole studying process and professor Marinakis is definitely one of them. From the beginning till the end of lectures students listen to him attentively because of the strong discipline, on the one hand, and because of a very interesting way of presenting material,on the other hand. We learn how to connect the theory with the practice, as Kosmas Marinakis describes each topic with numerous real life examples.
Moreover, it is clear that he is very interested in his subjects and also wants us to become interested in them. Kosmas Marinakis is ready to provide the students with the best studying conditions. After many conversations with the administration he got the best lecture room, what again proves the fact that he cares about the students.
I wish professor Marinakis good luck in this competition as he deserves the award for his achievements !

My big congratulations to Kosmas! This nomination is an honor that he truly deserves.

I've heard different stories and rumors about professor Marinakis since the beginning of my studies at ICEF and he seemed pretty strict and a bit crazy teacher to me according to those. However, I personally met him only on my 3rd year at his Public Speaking lecture, and was highly impressed with his style of teaching, his confidence, his manner of presenting the material, interaction with students, and good sense of humor.

On my 4th year Industrial Organization class was one of the choice courses taught by Kosmas and the introduction lecture just didn't leave a chance to other courses. I can truly say that his lectures were the most enjoyable throughout my whole studies at ICEF and I never even thought of skipping one. At some point of studying economics I really had a doubt whether it has a real, practical meaning in life. Though professor Marinakis showed us how the theory coincides with practice, he had a real-life example for literally everything he was talking about on his lectures.

Kosmas also really helped me with my struggles during submission of the documents for the Ph.D. program. He helped me to choose the range of universities that were suitable for me, worked with me on my statement of purpose and supported my application with his impactful recommendation letters (well, I haven't seen it, but judging by the fact that I ended up in a pretty good school in the States, it was pretty awesome). And I know, he cares about every student that needs his help or advice.

And the last thing I wanted to mention is that he is always open to criticism and willing to take actions for improvement. Despite the general ICEF course evaluations, he created his own that he gave us after the end of the course so we could express our concerns and wishes directly to him. I would like to thank him for being such a good teacher and mentor, and I believe he really affected some of my lifetime decisions!

Congratulations, Kosmas!

I would like to congratulate Kosmas Marinakis with this nomination and I am absolutely sure that he deserves to win it!

The first module of this year was really interesting and amazing, not so easy but we can't study without any obstacles and mistakes. It was such fabulous because we had an incredible lector - Dr Marinakis. All students looked forward to his class and his lectures always had perfect attendance. He taught us to love the economic science and had shown that it is beautiful. In my opinion, the way of his teaching is the best example of how the material should be presented and of the connection with audience. I also should mention that every single student was included in a process and enjoyed it!
It was a pleasure to be his student! Thank you a lot, Kosmas! Thank you for inspiring students to be good at the subject!

I hope that Dr Marinakis will win this award and I wish him good luck!

I'm a second year student of Economics faculty. Kosmas Marinakis was my lecturer in Microeconomics in 1st module this year. To be honest, it was the best module in micro since our microeconomics' course started. Everything was really interesting, I started to understand microeconomics much better and moreover i got interested in it. So, in my opinion, Kosmas Marinakis deserves this award as he can make the subject interesting and understandable for most of the students. That is really nice and important for every teacher and lecturer. So, I certainly vote for him in this nomination!!

I'm a forth-year student of ICEF, Dr. Marinakis is my lecturer in the course of Industrial Economics. In my opinion, he is the one who deserves the most the award. He stands out as a professor: he is able to grab attention of the whole audience and to make no one getting bored during his lectures; at the same he is also a great person: his sense of humor and the professional and respectful way of communication with students distinguish him from others. Personally, he made me to fall in love with Economics, what nobody could do during these three years. Dr. Marinakis makes a valuable contribution to ICEF academic life and I strongly support his candidacy.

Every lecture with Kosmas Marinakis was like an amazing particular story: very informative presentations and really great communication with students in auditorium. After this I realized how entertaining and interesting such hard subject like microeconomics can be. The last lecture was especially inspirational. I hope that Dr.Marinakis will get this award because he certainly deserves it!

Kosmas is that kind of professor that makes you fall in love with the subject. Passionate about teaching, he pays attention to every student, leaves no smallest detail without discussion and is always open to contact outside of the classroom in case of any issues. He is truly one of those people who make HSE a desirable place to study at! Thank you for amazing student-professor relationship experience, you are the one!

I had a class of Microeconomics with Dr. Marinakis last year and so far it was one of the best classes at HSE. I really enjoyed classes and they were interesting and very informative. Also the most important thing is that I can still remember a lot of things I was taught at those classes. So I really believe that Dr. Marinakkis deserves this award and I wish him all the best!:)

As a second-year student I had an amazing experience of interaction with Professor Marinakis just a month ago, and the only thing I regret now is that Kosmas didn't have the opportunity to teach us the whole course, because no one can do this in such a creative manner as he does. The most spectacular classes and ability to make everyone believe in crucial importance of economics is truly hypnotizing, let alone the fact of unaltered attendance of all the classes. I guess, this is one of those unusual cases, when lectures are attended due to one's interest in it, not because microeconomics is quite hard to understand. Speaking of which, even this part seemed to be unbelievably easy for us, as Kosmas could find a way to make everything rather transparent. So, I hope Professor Marimakis will be given all the rewards existing, cause he is the one who undoubtedly deserves them!

Dr. Marinakis has a real talent and passion for teaching. His course on Industrial Economics is one of the most interesting courses I've taken at ICEF. This professor knows how to attract attention of students, and this is a magic: you can not be distracted by anything during the whole lecture, you can only listen to the material and the brilliant real-life examples.
Dr. Marinakis always shows a professional behaviour and treats people very respectfully. Moreover, he is a very inspirational and friendly person.
One more detail: during the October exam on the Industrial Economics professor Marinakis came to every single student (there were more than 100 students) and personally wished everyone good luck!
I would like to thank professor Marinakis for his fantastic course, hope he will win because he definitely deserves this award!

Professor Kosmas Marinakis was the one who made me really love economics and believe that my 4 years in ICEF were not in vain.
To be honest, during first 3 years on the faculty I always doubted whether I am trully interested in what I am doing and is it the right path for me. The 4th year changed my attitude to studies drammatically. Since the very first lecture I was fascinated by his enthusiasm and energy, personal attractiveness and positive attitude towards students. At the same time Kosmas is demanding and exceptionally responsible: he practices individual approach to each student (even after 2 years he could memorize me and tell that I was good enough in IE), prepares thoroghly the lecture materials which make study process much easier and is always ready to give examples and give as many details as you need to understand the issue. Nowadays when all the study guides and other supporting materials are prepared by his own initiative I cannot imagine how one might not be good in IE or not enjoy this course.
To my mind, he was the only teacher at ICEF whose lectures were not only visited by all the students, but also these lectures were visited with pleasure. I was a tutor for 1st year students during my last year at ICEF and the first thing I told them when they asked me about the specialization they have to choose was "you should choose one which will allow you to visit IE course".
What is more, my personal positive memories about Kosmas are not limited by the IE course. I also visited his lectures on Public Speaking, which every year attracted a lot of students too. As I understand these are not only students and alumnies of ICEF or Economics. I was studying Management when I decided to participate in that series of lectures and I proposed my mates and friends to join me, and they were extremely glad after all to grasp that chance.
It my sound overly subjective or personal, but I believe any interaction with Kosmas is a great pleasure, since he doesn't avoid communication with students, doesn't seem distant or overly severe, so you feel free to ask questions no matter how stupid they may seem. This is what makes you feel you can learn whatever you want, makes you want to research some questions by your own and undestand that economics is not merely theory, but may be applied to everyday life. All these is possible when your teacher is enthusiastic about what he is doing and considers teaching not just as work but as the way to impact this world. This is all definitely about Kosmas and I believe he deserves this award.
I am glad I have a chance to say thank you for all you are doing for students.
Looking foreward for ICEF alumni meeting, hope to see you where.

Being an HSE student made me proud of many things, and the major one of them was the experience of studying with most brilliant professors. And most of all I am proud that professor Marinakis has taught us, because he really is a role model for this respectful profession. I know a lot of students that get demotivated from learning economics because it seems theoretical and very difficult, but professor Marinakis manages not only to get students study his subject from the beginning to the end of the course and not just two days before the exam, but also to understand it and sincerely enjoy it. We actually learn to share his excitement about economics. I believe that he is a true professional with great academic skills, talent to grasp the attention of the audience no matter how tired the audience is after all the lessons, high ethics standards and simply a very kind attitude to his students. I can state for sure that it takes an ideal professor to make 4th years attend all the lectures, do all the demanding assignments, learn and learn, and actually feel grateful to the professor. Thank you very much for teaching us, we believe that you truly deserve this and wish you luck!

Without a single doubt, I claim that Professor Marinakis is the best professor that I have ever met. The experience of the Microeconomics course and the series of Public Speking workshops was incredible. Not only the content was very useful, but also it was Professor Marinakis who managed to present it fabulously. I have never seen so much dedication and professionalism in one person. I would say that he may surely be a role model for many professors in terms of the approach to work and to students. Professor Marinakis is truly professional in every aspect of work and that is what distinguishes him. He is always eager to help even beyond the classroom (e.g. with a recommendation letter). In general, there is a long list of reasons to respect Professor Marinakis both professionally and personally.
I wish Professor Marinakis all the best and believe that he is the person who deserves the Golden Vyshka award for achievement in economic education!

This year I'm graduating from the HSE and if I was to name a favorite professor of mine that award would most definitely go to Mr. Marinakis. Thanks to his remarkable teaching style, we all looked forward to his class and I must mention that his lectures always had perfect attendance. Compared to other microeconomics related classes, this one was never overloaded with boring mathematical theory, the class was focused on developing students' intuition which I must say is an important trait for any economist. Moreover, Mr. Marinakis has a great sense of humor which creates positive atmosphere in class.
To sum it up, I'd like to add that in my humble opinion Mr.Marinakis absolutely deserves this nomination and I really hope that he receives it!

On my 4th year of Bachelor at ICEF I had to choose one of three subjects. And right after the introductory lecture on Industrial Economics I understood that the course of Professor Marinakis would be demanding, but very special. And it appeared to be true. Professor has always delivered information in a very clear, structured, and interesting way.

What amazes me most of all, is the professionalism of Professor Marinakis in everything he does: in his classes, Public Speaking seminars, in supervising papers, and in anything else he has to do. To me Professor Marinakis is the best professor of all times! Moreover, I think his values, professionalism and high requirements to students are aligned with those of HSE.

Everything Professor Marinakis has done for his students and for the university is remarkable and he is a totally worthy winner of this award!

Great to see professor Marinakis nominated!

I was not the most diligent of students, but Dr. Marinakis was always able to capture my full attention. His lectures were as interesting as they were insightful. Right now I'm doing my Masters and the knowledge acquired in Industrial Economics course helps me in surprising ways.

I'm definitely not the best compliment-writer, but I can say in all honesty that professor Marinakis is one of the few people (in academic world or otherwise) that I would like to cross the pathes with again.

I would like to congratulate Kosmas with this nomination and I am defenitely sure that he deserves to win it!

I have been a student of Kosmas and then was lucky to work with him as an assistant. His lectures and very professional way of teaching make students very involved in the studying. What I liked the most is that all theories and models he supports by cases in real life-and you understand more how things around you interact. You understand what is behind those models in class-it is economics in your everyday life. I suppose that for a professional teacher this ability to catch student's interest is essential and it is exactly what Kosmas does. He inspires us to learn more. Moreover, his materials are very helpful, clear and easy to use, so students in most cases have no problems with studies. Now, two years later I even remember some slides and his important comments. Also, it was great to get his experience, attending lectures of public speaking. Working with Kosmas as an assistant I faced with a very organized way of cooperation with the team and was not surprised at all as I knew who was the key person in it.:)

I am very happy that I was a student and an assistant of Kosmas, and am sure that he has a talent of teaching, he loves what he does and wants people to love it too and he succeed in it. It was a great pleasure to get such experience and knowledge.

Thank you very much, professor!
My congratulations and wishes of good luck!

I am not a student of Kosmas but had a chance to attend his unique Public Speaking seminars last year. What can I say ….. it just a masterpiece!!! It was very useful, extremely exciting, clear and interactive. I really envy HSE students who attend his classes. Kosmas indeed is very talented and charismatic person. But it is not enough to make his classes at the highest professional level. It is hard work and I am sure that every student feels it and appreciates it a lot. His amazing jokes and positive attitude are memorized in our hearts forever. I am very grateful to my fate that I met Kosmas and have opportunity to develop my professional skills with his help.
Thank you a lot, Kosmas!!! Good luck!!!

Both highly experienced in his teaching subject and open to explain the material so that every student understands it. I found out that Microeconomics is rather useful and interesting science which helps us perceive the world differently, in a more logical way. Kosmas is very talented and inspiring speaker. His charisma makes all the students involved in the lecture and a great number of examples from the real life help us to understand everything much better. Kosmas thank you for your lectures and good luck!

Professor Marinakis captures attention of students from the first minute of the lecture. Industrial Economics course that I took this year is the best Economics course I have taken so far. The thing I enjoyed most during the first half of studies was an understanding that theoretical models do work in the real life. In fact, there is no piece of theory unsupported by brilliant examples in lectures. Interesting cases starting from competition between well-known smartphone producers and ending with an economic rationale behind how mafia works make the course material amusing and easy to remember. Kosmas organized course and presentations in such a structured and logical way that it is clear that every minute of lecture was planned for a long time.
Besides being passionate to teaching I would like to note that Kosmas is very inspirational, positive and friendly person. He treats students as equals. Professor Marinakis verified my wish to pursue a PhD in Economics with his unique style of teaching and an original view at research being the things I would want to inherit.
I am sure that Dr Marinakis will win the award and I wish him good luck!

I'm a four-year student of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and I took the course of Microeconomics like everybody else. At first, as I remember, everybody was scared that professor Marinakis might be extremely strict and his course would be very difficult, but after some lectures this fear flew away and interest in the subject came instead. He used to give even hard material very simply, giving examples of the real life, which made it impossible not to come to the lecture. The material was given in a such way, so that everybody was silent, catching his every word, which doesn't happen very often with my course-mates. The knowledge he gave still helps me with other disciplines. The course of Public Speaking was also very useful for me, because I have a stage fear. Everything that is written above is true and I think that professor Marinakis should win this award, because he is one of the best professors I had while studying in HSE.

Professor K.Marinakis is probably one of the best teachers I have ever met! I'm really thankful for all the best real life examples he used to explain every theoretical moment, for all the great lectures that he'd given and the loveliest 8 weeks we spent together. We could understand microeconomics perfectly because he genuinely tried to explain every complex moment until everyone would understand clearly what's going on and never stopped believing in us. It's the saddest moment when one of your favourite teachers leaves you so soon. I agree with Mr Marinakis, economics is a truly beautiful science. And I'm really glad that he got this nomination as he totally deserves it.

I have attended his seminars in Public Speaking and Microeconomics lectures. All the knowledge he shares is valuable and extremely applicable in real life. He is such kind of person who leads by his own example, always being supportive and competent. Also he has a unique ability of rising love and curiosity for the subjects he teaches.

I believe that presenting this award will be the best profit and utility maximising decision for the HSE:)

I’m very glad that prof. K. Marinakis was nominated for the award this year. I think he really deserves the award.

I have attended his courses in Public Speaking, Industrial Economics and also the lecture on "How to write diploma paper”. To my mind, he is one of the greatest and extremely talented teacher. His style of teaching is something really special in the most positive way. He's manners and the way of presenting the material combined with great sense of humour and some real life stories, provided as an examples, plays great role holding the attention and interest of the whole class on subject and really motivates to work hard.

Never skipped a single lecture of his and have to say, that all the material i’ve learned is very useful not only in academic proposes, but in real life situations. Also the motivation and energy he gives to his students during classes are incredible.
Honestly, thanks to him, I found his courses ones of the most interesting and useful at HSE.

Hope Kosmas will win the award as he definitely deserves it.

I’ve known prof. Marinakis since his first year of teaching of Microeconomics class at the HSE. Being in the role of his student and also of his teaching assistant, I can say that he totally deserves the right of being one of the best lecturers. He is always very organised, professional, and his teaching style is unique and inspirational for studying. There are no lost students in the classroom, since he tries to connect everything to the real life, that is very important for the core undergrad classes.

Besides teaching, prof. Marinakis was also a great academic supervisor for me. He always gave lots of comments and critique, as well as suggestions for improvement of my undergraduate thesis. So, the final result speaks for itself, since I got an excellent grade and I also was admitted to one of the top PhD programs.

I am sure that Kosmas will continue to motivate his students working hard and inspire them to make amazing academic and industry careers. He totally deserves this nomination for his excellent job.

Dr Marinakis is one of those people who you are looking forward to meet on your academic path as he combines two extremely important (for a lecturer) features: the first is that he has a passion for teaching and the second is that he knows how to share this passion with other people.

At first glance, Kosmas is a typecast of the perfect professor - intelligent, attentive, debonair and hilarious. But when it comes to rules Dr Marinakis is really demanding. Somehow he has found a balance between being strict professor who expects his students to work hard and be persistant and being someone between a friend and a role model.

It is clearly seen that Kosmas learns just as much as his students, which means that he is not only gives but expects a feedback which encourages students to participate in lectures, talk about the subject and think. Treating everybody equally, Dr Marinakis created an atmospehere where every single student feels included and appreciated.

His own passion is a matter why his lectures attend so many students and his ability to share it is a reason why so many of them succeed in micro. In my opinion, Kosmas Marinakis is an incredible lecturer, who inspired many people if not to bundle their lives with microeconomics but at least to enjoy the process of studying and being able to have fun at a serious lecture.

Congratulations, Dr Marinakis and good luck!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Professor Marinakis for his reverent attitude to his profession, his discipline and his students! I am very glad I had the opportunity to be one of his students during Microecenomics course and also to work as a teaching assistant under his supervision.

What makes a good teacher an outstanding teacher, is the ability and desire to make students to be interested in his subject, the ability to listen to students and Pr. Marinakis copes with these tasks at 100% and does so with love and pleasure.

I join to all aforesaid and hope the jury will award Kosmas Marinakis with the prize Zolotaya Vishka as he really deserves it.
I wish Kosmas Marinakis best of luck in all his future beginnings!

Congratulations, Professor! This is truly emeritus reward.
Couple years ago I got a chance to attend "Public Speaking" course and I was impressed by the charisma and the energy of the speaker. Professor Marinakis was giving informal and very valuable advice in very friendly manner. It was literally impossible to get over the lecture.
Year after I took elective course "Industrial Economics" and was never disappointed. Professor Marinakis has his own approach to Economics and he is able to explain it and provide real life examples to help students to understand the subject. And Professor is in love with what he is doing! It makes him so special. As well as his sense of humor which helps students to keep concentrated and interested in.
Apart from the teaching, Professor discussed with us some ethical topics and shared his believes and values, he was some fair and open-minded.
I believe that all of these makes Professor Marinakis the perfect nominee for the reward.
Professor, thank you for all your afford and good luck!

From all the courses that I attended at ICEF in four years, Industrial Economics taught by Prof. Marinakis was by far the best. Not only we were introduced to a new field from scratch, but it was also done in a manner that connected it to what was studied before. Usually Undergraduate Economics courses lack real life application and some students get lost in the theory not understanding how it is relevant. This is not the case with the teaching style of Prof Marinakis - all the concepts are explained on real-life examples which make all the difficult concepts easy to remember. Needless to say, as a creator of a Public Speaking short course, he always delivers on the lectures. It was one of those classes for which it was always worth it to come on campus, even if you have already studied the material.

On a different note, Kosmas Marinakis was very helpful with my application for graduate studies. I was somewhat lost in the process of gathering all the documents, but he guided me, helping to come up with a list of schools to apply to among other important things. The end result speaks for itself, as I was able to get into one of the top programs.

If there is one person who should be getting this award, it is Prof. Marinakis. Congrats with the nomination and good luck!

Kosmas is one of the greatest lecturers I've ever met! I have attended every single lecture from micro course and it was really interesting. His manner of teaching is amazing: he catches your attention from the very first second! The information may be rather difficult sometimes, but he has a gift to explain everything so that everybody understands. Besides, we never got bored because he always has a funny story or a joke to tell you :) Recently I've discovered that he is teaching on one of the electives, I will definetely enroll for this course the next year! He really deserves to be a prizewinner of the Golden HSE!

As a student who has taken micro course by Kosmas and the Public Speaking seminars I may say that these two courses were some of the most interesting and at some point useful to me. Considering the Public Speaking course, Kosmas showed all his charisma to youth to encourage them speak up and improve this skill. From my point of view, he gave very practical advice during the course, that are very helpful not only in academic sphere, but also in everyday communication. This course influenced me in two particular ways. Firstly, I actually managed to improve the skills of giving presentations by applying the practical advice by Kosmas and secondly, Kosmas encouraged me to take this passion to public speaking further and take some courses on public speaking as well. Speaking about his micro course, it was truly an amazing opportunity to listen to it as Kosmas presented not only fundamental information but also provided us with useful practical cases which made it easier to understand this science and find the applications to our lives. He managed to make microeconomics fun for everybody through the interaction with the audience and references to the current news. The audience was always full of students and to tell you a secret there even was a long waiting line in front of the class way before it has to start. But not only his amazing public speaking skills and knowledge of microeconomics made students wait in that line, but also his wise life advices and what’s more his amazing presentations with the ability of difficult material like consequential graphs and “super-effects” like the fire to draw publics’ attention to the important cases during a difficult material explanation. After all, it was very nice to meet such an outstanding professor with the shining light in his eye and truly love to the subject and his work, as in my opinion the attitude towards class and students has a lot to do with the quality of education. All in all, it was a big surprise for me to know that Kosmas hasn’t been nominated for this award before and he is honestly one of the best professors of our university and truly deserves it!
So I wish Kosmas good luck with his nomination!

Every single student has to be proud to have lecturer like Professor Kosmas Marinakis. His lectures are so interactive no matter what the subject is. I attended several lectues on public speaking and I was truly impressed. All of us root for this very hard and I truly believe we will hear a lot about future succeses of Professor Marinakis and his students in our university, I hope he will guard us during our academic life for many more years and I think this is a good opportunity to thank him for great effort he put and for delivering classes full of passion and enthusiasm.

Despite that three years have passed after my final Micro lecture with Mr. Marinakis, I'd still rank him among the top lecturers I've ever encountered. His style, based on rather the elaboration of practical, real-world examples instead of a parrot-like repetition of school-level Math theorems (which one could inevitably face while doing another Micro courses at HSE), was the one that revealed the purpose of this subject for me. Apart from that, Mr. Marinakis is fairly talented in delivering a speech in front of the public, and thus I would strongly recommend attending his Public Speaking Seminars.

I wish Mr. Marinakis all the luck with his nomination.

I want to congratulate Dr. Marinakis with this award. I attended his lectures in microeconomics this year and was left in awe. He is a wonderful speaker and teacher. His lectures were the most interesting and the most clear. All the material that he gave at the lecture was indeed on the exam. His teaching technique is not too common in the Higher School of Economics. Kosmas Marinakis is very special and significant teacher. He is passionate about his subject and able to ignite in students an interest in it. In simple examples he explains important things that you remember for a long time. I can not mention the sense of humor of the Professor. Lectures were really informative and fun. I think I was lucky to attend his lectures during my studies at the faculty of Economics. And wish we had more of such wonderful teachers like Mr. Marinakis. Congratulations again on your victory and wish you success!!! You are awesome!!!)

I would endorse previous commenters' views and share my point about professor Marinakis.
I attended the Microeconomics course, that took part during my 4th Semester at HSE and last year I had a chance to enjoy Public Speaking Seminar.

Microeconomics course was my first experience of english lectures - at the beginning I was confused but by virtue of perfect diction and outstanding oratorical skills I became familiar with the subject. The topics felt easy and understandable and attending lectures was a pleasure for me. As for Public Speaking - it was a unique workshop that allowed me to prepare for my Bachelor thesis - I did a good presentation, what was remarked by our committe and got for it excellent mark. I consider public speaking training was a significant contribution towards my success.
Moreover, prof. Marinakis is a very pleasant person - approachable, with good sence of humor and always smiling. I appreciate his attitude - he won't neglect a conversation with a student and will give a valuable advice.

I would also remark professor as a specialist in his field - he likes his subject, always enhances his knowledge and is perfectly prepared for the lectures.

For the aforementioned reasons I will definitelly support him in this nomination, he is worth it!

First of all, I want to congratulate Professor Marinakis with this reward! He and his unique talent of teaching deserves even a higher respect!

I've had a lot of teachers and professors on my academic way. Some of them were actually great at what they did, but none of them were even quite close to what Dr. Marinakis does during his lectures. Even if you are a hard student to catch attention of, he easily manages to do it - always by making you interested again. He explains the hard material so entertaining that the students sometimes do not see how hard this material was (of course, you need to study hard to be successful, but it's always worth it!). By the end of the study with him you will get a pretty heavy bunch of knowledge, an unforgettable experience, a smart interlocutor and a never ending inspiration for further studies. He is able to turn Economics from a tedious subject into a real-life inseparable matter that is not only useful and meaningful, but also very engaging.

Thank you, Professor, for the unforgettable year, for my reheated interest in Economics, for the best lectures I ever had!

I really hope that the exceptional work of Professor Marinakis will get even wider recognized. Because it has to. Because it's unique.

Having attended one of the Public Speaking seminars last year I was so impressed with how Dr.Marinakis was able to engage the whole audience into the discussion, I knew I needed to enroll in the Industrial Economics course the next year. Now, at my 4th year at ICEF, I may say that Dr.Marinakis is one of the most charismatic professors I have ever met and his lectures are a unique mix of entertaining microeconomic theory and fascinating stories which you do not want to miss.

He is so good at capturing individual attention that you do not want to get distracted by anything else, even if microeconomics has never been your favorite subject. Dr.Marinakis not only inspires his students to do the best at his subject, but also does everything possible for us to enjoy the journey with his demands always being very clear and him acting in our best interests. Moreover, he develops work ethics in his students, providing valuable insights on life and making you understand that all you need to achieve your goals is to work hard for them.

Dr.Marinakis, thank you for those unforgettable lectures. We all support you and wish you luck!

Congratulations, Mr. Marinakis! I am the 2nd year student and I totally agree with all the words about professor! All his lectures were quite interesting and absorbing that provide a great desire to do my best while studying and even to connect a life with economic science. The way he teaches his student is really helpful because all of student are involved in the process. There are not so many teachers who can do that or just try to do that. So, good luck to the best professor!
