In 2020, the Higher School of Economics took a record positions in the QS ranking for key MASNA specializations
This year, HSE first entered the QS ranking for the subject "Statistics and operational research". In the subject "Computer Science and Information Systems", the university improved its performance and moved from the Top 250 to the Top 200. For the third year in the subject "Mathematics", HSE has retained its position in the Top-150, and in "Sociology" - in the Top-100.

On March 10, at a meeting of the Department of Social Institutions Analysis at the Department of Sociology of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, the pre-defense of the PhD dissertation of ANR-Lab member Stanislav Moiseev was held on the topic: “The nature and mechanisms of mass behavior: from classical sociology to modern theoretical models”.

ANR-Lab and MASNA launch data science courses from foreign professors for external students
For the first time in the three years of the Master's programme “Applied Statistics with Network Analysis Methods”, the International Laboratory for Applied Network Research opens courses taught by leading foreign experts and professors of the program to external students. Upon successful completion of the course, students are given an official HSE certificate for 4 ECTS credits. As with the entire program, the focus of the courses is on the applied aspects of data analysis. All courses start from scratch, allowing to learn specific methods even to those who are not familiar with the data analysis.

Fishman (University of Arizona) likened international comparative studies of education quality to horse racing and discussed how these studies do not have as significant an impact on educational policy as is commonly believed.
