Our lab member Nikita Zmanovsky at the V International Luria Memorial Congress

HSE International Center for the Study of Institutions and Development (ICSID) and NES Center for the Study of Diversity and Social Interactions held another session of their joint Research Seminar on Diversity and Development on October 24, 2017. The event was held jointly with the seminar “Political Economy” and Economic Development and Growth Research Group.

An article by Kirill Chmel (LCSR research assistant), Alexander Demin and Kirill Kazantcev «Dictators’ Behavior Under Conditions of Economic Sanctions Cumulative Effect», has recently been published in the Working Papers Series «Political Science» issued by the HSE Basic Research Programme.

From October 20 to 22, a short-term advanced training course “Programming in Python for the collection and analysis of data” was held at the Higher School of Economics at Perm Higher School of Economics, conducted by Ilya Schurov, Associate Professor, Department of Higher Mathematics, Higher School of Economics.

The pocket data book contains main indicators characterizing S&T and innovation potential of the Russian Federation. There are the information about intellectual property, S&T output, data of international comparisons given.

Dataset on Perceptions of Electoral Integrity (PEI-5.5) by Pippa Norris, Thomas Wynter and Max Grömping is available now! This dataset by the Electoral Integrity Project evaluates the quality of elections held around the world. Based on a rolling survey collecting the views of election experts, this research provides independent and reliable evidence to compare whether countries meet international standards of electoral integrity. The datasets are available for analysis at three levels: COUNTRY-level (161 observations); ELECTION-level (260 observations), and also EXPERT-level (2,961 observations). On November 3, the first meeting will open, opening the IDLab regular research workshop on sports economics and sports management.

The seventh scientific seminar ‘Modern demography’, of International laboratory for population and health NRU HSE, was held on 18^th of October. Sebastian Klüsener, deputy head of the Laboratory for fertility and social well-being of Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research, Rostock, Germany, presented a paper "Social and spatial connectivity and demographic change: Innovative analytical approach based on micro-level census data".

On Wednesday, October 18 the all-Russian seminar "Mathematical methods of decision analysis in economics, finance and politics" was held. Professor A. Podyakov gave a lecture on «Nontransitivity of excellence in various fields: biology, economics, game theory, psychology»

On its 25^th anniversary, the Higher School of Economics (HSE) took 25^th place in the QS EECA (Emerging Europe & Central Asia) Ranking, thus improving its result by 10 positions as compared with last year. This ranking includes 300 positions and takes into account higher education institutions in transitional European and Central Asian countries.
