HSE International Center for the Study of Institutions and Development (ICSID) and NES Center for the Study of Diversity and Social Interactions held another session of their Research Seminar on Diversity and Development on February 28^th, 2017. The event was held jointly with the seminar “Political Economy”.

It is our pleasure to announce that the 10th Embodied and Situated Language Processing Conference will take place in Moscow, Russian Federation. The call for abstracts is already opened. and will last till 15th March.

Professor Peter Horvath gave a mini course «Microscopy image analysis» for students of computer .In his course he made stress on high-content screening (HCS), which includes cell biology, automated high resolution microscopy, informatics and robotics

HSE International Center for the Study of Institutions and Development (ICSID) and NES Center for the Study of Diversity and Social Interactions held another session of their joint seminar.

On January 31 – February 1, 2017, a final seminar of the project “From disparities in mortality trends to future health challenges (DIMOCHA)” took place at Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (Rostock, Germany). In 2013-2017, this project brought together the researchers from the leading European demographic centers, who are working in the field of mortality and population health. The main goal of the project was to perform a complex analysis of disparities in mortality and life expectancy across developed countries and to shed light on the mechanisms of its rising and lowering at different points in time during the second half of the 20^th - beginning of the 21st century. Special attention was paid to the analysis of detailed cause-specific mortality trends across the countries. One of the major outputs of the project was launching a new online database - The Human Cause-of-Death Database (http://www.causesofdeath.org/) which provides long-term and harmonized series on cause-specific mortality.

Elena Shakina has presented a report on scientific publications of the laboratory for 2014-2016 as well as the laboratory's strategic plans for 2017-2019.

International Laboratory of Intangible-driven economy participated in the XXII workshop on Accounting and Management Control on the 19-20 January, organized by University of Vigo, Spain. A series of investigations were presented.

The session held on  January 17-21 was dedicated to the development of Laboratory strategy for 2017-2019 years, discussion of the issue of attracting new members and more academic contacts.

On Wednesday, January 18 the all-Russian seminar "Mathematical methods of decision analysis in economics, finance and politics" was held. Vsevolod Malinovskiy from CEMI RAS gave a lecture on «Dynamic model of company in the insurance market considered as a complex reflexive system»

Petr Parshakov spoke on the scientific seminar of School of Economics and Business Administration at University of Vigo, Spain on the 18th January, where he presented the results of the study «Team vs. Individual Tournaments: Evidence from Prize Structure in eSports», implemented jointly with Dennis Coates in the framework of PhD thesis at University of Vigo.
