Transforming cities for the XXI century (2 ECTS credits, 16 academic hours, HSE Moscow)

The course is directed by Vicente Guallart, the ex chief architect of Barcelona (2011-2015) which is the first European capital of innovation and world reference in processes of urbanisation ecology, technologies development. That background will permit to make a deeper analysis of diverse systems that exist in cities and to learn about projects that is leading the cities toward the more sustainable future.
During the course different models of urban development will be observed that will give the students knowledge and understanding on how to create successful strategy of urban development that can upgrade and overcome existing mono-functional models and urban crisis.
Directed by Vicente Guallart, academic supervisor of master program 'Prototyping Future Cities' HSE Graduate School of Urbanism, chief architect of Barcelona (2011 - 2015), co-founder of the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC).
The course will take place in Shukhov Lab for prototyping future cities, innovative laboratory of the HSE Graduate School of Urbanism in center of Moscow.
