Session ‘Western Politics and Institutions in New Reality' of the 5th International Conference 'The World Majority in New Realities: the Regional Dimension' 

Session 'Western Politics and Institutions in New Reality' which took place on the first day of the conference, on the 30th of November 2023 (moderator Galina Nikiporets-Takigawa) brought together scientists from the Department of International Regional Studies, other Departments of WE&IA Faculty, and other major research centers working in the field of research of the ‘world minority’. 

A discussion with Fedor Lukyanov and Sergei Kislitsyn on the issue of forecasting international relations in a crisis

On 8 November, more than a hundred people attended a meeting of the Lantern Discussion Club created by the International Laboratory on World Order Studies and the New Regionalism at the HSE and FOUR magazine. The discussion took place in the new format called Let’s Go Serious.

Research Seminar with Fyodor Lukyanov and Marlene Laruelle

The Department of International Relations together with the International Laboratory on World Order and the New Regionalism and the Bulgarian Club conducted a seminar on the topic “Russia and the West in a Time of Uncertainty?” on Tuesday November 29, 2022 (18:00 MSK), with the participation of Marlene Laruelle, Ph.D., a research-professor at the Elliott School of International Affairs, The George Washington University and Fyodor Lukyanov, Editor-in-chief of the journal “Russia in Global Affairs”, Chairman of the Presidium of the Council for Foreign and Defense Policy of Russia, research-professor at the National Research University Higher School of Economics.

Anastasia Likhacheva receives Ambassador Cardim to straighten academic ties with Brazil

On September 16th, the Dean of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of the National Research University “Higher School of Economics” Anastasia Likhacheva received the Brazilian Ambassador Carlos Henrique Cardim, professor at the University of Brasilia (UnB) and former director of the Research Institute in International Relations (IPRI) of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to discuss the prospects of academic cooperation.

SURF-HSE Panel: U.S.-Russia Relations During the Biden Administration

On January 23 Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of the National Research University Higher School of Economics arranged Expert Panel on US-Russia Relations for the Stanford US-Russia Forum 2021 delegates. This Panel traditionally opens the series of SURF events in Moscow. This year the Panel was conducted online.
The speakers analyzed the current international context of the US-Russia relations, domestic trends in the US and their impact on the US policy towards Russia, prospects for the US foreign policy and US-Russia relations during the Biden Administration. After the discussion, which was moderated by Dmitry Suslov, the panelists answered the SURF delegates’ questions.

East and West in the New Transformation Phase: Asia Encountering the Challenges of Globalization

On December 16-17, 2020, experts, diplomats, regional and oriental scholars from 36 countries and six regions of Russia met on the virtual platform of the Higher School of Economics to discuss new trends of regionalization and de-globalization in the world development. These trends were vividly manifested in Asia during the last year - the period of extraordinary upheaval caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
