IIMS seminar series "Institutional Problems of the Russian Economy"

On May 11, Denis Ivanov spoke at the second seminar in the newly relaunched series.

3rd Ariel Political Economy Conference 2022

Denis Ivanov, a Senior Research Fellow at ICSID, spoke at the annual Ariel Political Economy Conference at Ariel University (Israel). He presented the report “Public Reaction on Trade Sanctions in a Democratic Context: Evidence from Moldovan Wine Embargo”.

ICSID workshop for young scholars

The two-day interdisciplinary ICSID seminar "Political Economy of Development: Challenges and Opportunities in a Changing World" for young scholars ended on June 8.

2021 ASEEES Conference

ASEEES (Association for Slavic, East European, & Eurasian Studies) Virtual Convention was held in New Orleans, LA on November 18-21 and online on December 1-3. The theme this year was “Diversity, Intersectionality, Interdisciplinarity”, several ISCID team members took part in the event.

New article in "International Journal of Emerging Markets"

A new article "Friendly Bureaucrats, Formal Rules, and Firms' Investment Decisions: Evidence from a Survey Experiment in Russia" by IIMS and ISCID director Andrei Yakovlev and ISCID senior research fellow Denis Ivanov was accepted for publication in "International Journal of Emerging Markets".

Bank of Finland Internship Programme

Denis Ivanov, the ISCID senior research fellow, was invited to participate in an internship programme at the Bank of Finland Institute for Economies in Transition.

Political Economy of Democracy and Dictatorship

4th International Conference on the Political Economy of Democracy and Dictatorship was held in University of Münster at the 27-29 of February. Denis Ivanov, research fellow of the ISCID, gave a paper "Public reaction on trade sanctions in a democratic context: Evidence from Moldovan wine embargo"

HSE Hosts Russian National Award in Applied Economics

The winner of the 2018 award is Ina Ganguli, Professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The American researcher stood out for her series of articles analysing the productivity of Russian scientists in the 1990s, as well as their decisions concerning emigration and the impact that emigration had on the diffusion of Russian science in the United States.

HSE Political Scientists Discuss Their Research at APSA Meeting

In San Francisco, the 111th annual meeting of the American Political Science Association (APSA) – one of the largest international conferences in the field of political science – recently took place. Scholars from HSE presented their research on forum panels such as ‘Fiscal Politics in Federal Systems’, ‘Social Policy in Non-democracies: Dynamics of Social Policy Debates in Russia’, ‘Incumbents and Elections in Developing Countries’, and ‘Power in 21st Century World Politics’.

In St. Petersburg, the third international conference ‘Industrial Organization and Spatial Economics’, organized by the HSE’s “International Laboratory for the Theory of Markets and Spatial Economics” has come to an end. The participants talked about how to study competition, the similarities and differences of regional economies, and whether it is possible to create a robot-economist.
