RUSSIAN-DUTCH UNIVERSITY PARTNERSHIPS: SHAPING INNOVATIVE ACADEMIC AND RESEARCH AGENDA

November  15-16, 2012



On November 15–16, National Research University Higher School of Economics hosted the conference of leading Russian and Dutch universities "Russian-Dutch University Partnerships: Shaping Innovative Academic and Research Agenda" in partnership with Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU) and with the support of New Eurasia Foundation. The Conference coincides with 20th anniversary of Higher School of Economics.



VSNU is a long-term partner of HSE. It provides the ongoing support to the development of partnerships between HSE and leading Dutch universities. In July 2012 VSNU arranged the first meeting of university leaders from the Netherlands and Russia in Amsterdam where the following strategic areas of cooperation were identified:

  • Innovation & Education
  • Innovations, Valorization and Business Development
  • ICT and Computational Science
  • Innovative Energy and Energy Efficiency
  • High-Tech Systems and Materials
  • Life Science & Health

 

The Conference provided the framework for further promotion of mutual interuniversity research and educational initiatives of the two countries as well as development of proposals and projects for the coming year 2013 which has been declared the cross-year for Russia and the Netherlands. Over 100 representatives of leading universities and research centers from Russia (Moscow and regions) and the Netherlands participated in the conference, including university leaders and experts in the defined strategic areas.  Representatives of the ministries of education and commercial companies interested in cooperation with universities also joined the event.



The Dutch participants represented the leading research universities of the Netherlands: University of Groningen, University of Amsterdam, Eindhoven University of Technology, Maastricht University, Delft University of Technology, University of Twente and Open University of the Netherlands, as well as research organizations and industrial companies.

 

Among the Russian participants were the following universities: Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Ural Federal University, State University of Management, Far-Eastern Federal University, St.Petersburg National Research University of Information, Technologies, Mechanics and Optics, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radio-electronics, Russian National Research Medical University named after N.I.Pirogov, Skolkovo Tech University, Siberian Federal University, Russian State University of Humanities, Lomonosov Moscow State University, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, Moscow State Technological University, N.P.Ogarev Mordovia State University, Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas etc.
