‘Together’—New International Exhibition in Skolkovo
One of the hospital buildings located in the Skolkovo district is currently hosting a contemporary art exhibition meant to nurture human connection. It features artists from all over the world and demonstrates diverse artwork displayed in an unusual location.
Skolkovo is a large complex dedicated to boosting scientific and technological progress—the first technopolis in Russia. It is located in the western part of Moscow and is home to various scientific projects in active development. The new exhibition suggests that it is not entirely divorced from art, either—the exhibition in the oncology centre No. 62 reflects the concept of art as a healing force that helps create a supportive environment and foster connections between people.
The exhibition features 70 artists from various countries, including France, Brazil, China, Korea, the United States, and more. Their artwork is dedicated to a multitude of topics—the human body, nature, technology, and different interplays between them. Currently, the art pieces can be seen in the courtyard, by the entrance, as well as in the corridors of the building, while multimedia projects are installed in the X-ray examination rooms. The specific types of art also vary: there are oil paintings, sculptures, light- and audio installations, and graphic art pieces. On top of that, the hospital hosts creative workshops, meaning that the artists continuously create new pieces so that the exhibition gradually changes and develops. The hospital itself is not yet open, but it will retain a lot of the art pieces even after it starts working.
In addition to the artwork, the hospital hosts different events open for the public. These include lectures, workshops, discussions, and even concerts. Among some of the upcoming events is a lecture on the relationship between our biology and our thinking, a public talk about futuristic urban development, and a calligraphy class. The events are free but require prior registration. More information is available on the website (in Russian).
