Non/fiction: United Kingdom and HSE at Moscow Book Fair

From November 30 – December 4, 2016, the18th International Book Fair for High-Quality Fiction and Non-Fiction will take place at the Central House of Artists in Moscow.

United Kingdom at non/fiction

This year the United Kingdom will be the Country of Honour at Moscow's non/fictio№ Book Fairfor the first time in its history. Visitors to the Fair will be able to attend a programme of literary events curated by the British Council, where leading British authorswill discuss adult fiction, non-fiction, children's literature and education and translation. Novelists, historians, film and theatre scriptwriters, translators and illustrators will all be part of the line-up.

A delegation of a dozen book publishers and literary agents from the UK will also participate in a professional programme at the Fair, where they will meet Russian colleagues to exchange experience and knowledge, with the aim of establishing closer co-operation. One of the key events of the UK programme will be the announcement and award of the All-Russia English-Russian literary translation contest.

The participation of the United Kingdom as Country of Honour at the non/fictio№ Book Fair is the culmination of the year-long programme of the UK-Russia Year of Language and Literature 2016.

HSE at non/fiction

On November 30, from 6 to 7 pm, the publishing house of the HSE Faculty of Communications, Media, and Design, will present its books at the non/fictio№ Book Fair. Students of the master’s programme ‘Media Production in Creative Industries’ will present over 20 books they have published during the last 18 months, including collections of essays by renowned political writers, textbooks and lectures, as well as a book of poetry. Lecturers from the ‘Digital Publishing’ course (Alexander Arkhangelsky, Alexander Gavrilov, and Vladimir Kharitonov) will discuss the opportunities and challenges of digital publishing with the authors of the presented books.
