Free Skating in Moscow Parks on Students’ Day

On January 25th, Students’ Day is celebrated in Russia. This year, 18 parks in Moscow are offering free skating for students, while several other attractions have announced free entry or additional discounts.

On January 25, the following Moscow parks are offering free entrance to their skating rinks for students:

  • Hermitage Garden
  • Bauman Garden
  • Krasnaya Presnya Park
  • Izmailovsky Park
  • Fili Park
  • Tagansky Park
  • Vorontsovsky Park
  • Garden in Olonetsky Proezd
  • Babushkinsky Park
  • Mitino Lanscape Park
  • 50 Letiya Oktyabrya Park
  • Lianozovsky Park
  • Goncharovsky Park
  • Angarskie Prudy Park
  • Druzhby Park
  • Severny Rechnoy Vokzal Park
  • Perovsky Park

To take advantage of this, show your valid student ID at the ticket office. Skates for rent will also be available for free, with a refundable deposit. The deposit varies from park to park, but the average amount is RUB 1,000.

Tsartisyno Museum and Reserve will offer free tube sledding and ski rental for students on January 25th. (More information on tube sledding  and winter sports in Moscow is available on the Life in Moscow website.)

Gorky Park will offer a 50% discount for students at the Happy People Factory skating rink.

Ostankino TV Tower will offer free excursions for full-time students of Russian and international universities in Russian and English on Students’ Day. There will be excursion groups at regular intervals during the day, from 10 am to 9 pm. To participate, students need to buy a ticket (regular discounts for students are available), while the guided tour will be free of charge.

Russian Students’ Day is celebrated annually on January 25th. On this day in 1755, Empress Elizabeth of Russia signed an order establishing the first Russian university in Moscow. January 25th is Saint Tatiana’s day, so St. Tatiana is venerated as the patron saint of all students. By the way, if, just in case, your name is Tatiana, all the above discounts are also available to you: just show your ID at the entrance.
