The Ninth International Military Music Festival ‘Spasskaya Tower’ is taking place from August 27 until September 4, 2016 on Red Square in Moscow.
From July 15 to August 7, 2016, a festival of jam is taking place all around Moscow. Thirty three festival sites located in central Moscow and in all of the city’s administrative areas sell honey, fruit, nuts and souvenirs, as well as 200 varieties of jams, including such exotic sorts as lilac, chamomile, rose petal, dandelion, honeysuckle, coffee, chili, and aubergine jam. Guests of the festival can also participate in about 1,000 creative and athletic workshops.
This year May 1 in Russia is not only Labour Day, but also Orthodox Easter. Moscow offers a wide range of activities at its spring festivals, from classical and bell music, to arts and crafts fairs and birdhouse-making master classes.

Geek Picnic festival is an open-air event for everyone interested in technology, science, and the arts. This year it is taking place in Russia’s two capital cities: on June 13th and 14th in Moscow, and on June 20th and 21st in St. Petersburg. The festival’s latest theme is Human-Machine. In Moscow, the festival will be in Krasnaya Presnya Park.
On May 8 and 9, the 70th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War will be remembered and celebrated in Moscow parks and streets.
Easter decorations and market stalls have already appeared on the streets and squares of central Moscow. As Orthodox Easter this year falls on April 12th, Easter street festivals will take place from April 10th – 19th.
If you are in Russia for the week of February 16-22 this year, you are particularly lucky, since you’ll have the opportunity to participate in Maslenitsa, one of the most popular Russian festivals.
As more and more Moscow streets turn pedestrian, the idea of walking around the city is becoming more and more attractive. Even more so this winter, since the Moscow government has organized a festival ‘Magical Journey to Christmas’, which is taking place around the city in various pedestrian zones until January 11.
