On May 31st, the HSE Orchestra, made up of students, staff, and graduates of HSE and other universities, will perform a new programme at the HSE Cultural Centre. Anyone who wishes to attend the concert is welcome, and entry is free—all you need to do is register by 3 pm on May 29th.

Classical and modern works will be performed by the symphony orchestra, wind and string ensembles, and duets. The programme includes Dvořák’s last symphony, Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre, Piazzolla, Schnittke, soundtracks to computer games and anime, and much more.

The artistic director and conductor of the orchestra is Rishat Daulatshin, a fourth-year student at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and the leader of the chamber orchestra at the Prokofiev Moscow Region Musical College.

Enrolment in the orchestra is open all year round. Anyone who can play an instrument is welcome, regardless of whether they finished music school yesterday or 20 years ago. ‘Our orchestra is an opportunity to perform music and improve our skills in a comfortable and friendly environment. Don't worry about your level—the most important thing for us is the desire to play,’ say the HSE University musicians.

Tatiana Mitrofanova, cello

‘The key value of our orchestra is that anyone who knows how to play a musical instrument, but has chosen a different field as their main job, should have the opportunity to develop and improve their musical skills. For me, it is essential that the amateur orchestra is open not only to HSE students, but also to mature individuals like myself who have returned to playing after a long break. Thanks to the orchestra, I received a powerful boost in developing my performance skills and a tremendous feeling of happiness when we are all creating music together. It's an unreal feeling of flight! The team is wonderful; it charges me with inspiration, fun, and drive.’

Kamila Minikhairova, cello

‘The orchestra is a musical family, a second home where you are always expected and welcome, where you have an opportunity to express yourself, to notice and grow something new in your musical skills, where you are always heard.’

Polina Kudryavtseva, violin

‘Our orchestra was formed at HSE University six years ago. We have students from various faculties, as well as teachers, graduates, and even students from other universities. Currently, we have a large and diverse ensemble consisting of string, woodwind and brass instruments, a piano, and we are constantly recruiting new musicians.’

Rehearsals take place on Mondays and Fridays from 6 pm to 9 pm at 21/4 Staraya Basmannaya Ulitsa, Building A, Room 203. If you would like to join, please contact the orchestra via VK.
