HSE Student Develops Platform for Online Physical Training
A student of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science and a team of like-minded people have created Fora.Vision, a startup platform for conducting remote physical training lessons in schools and universities. The computer vision-based system automatically counts the number of completed exercises and displays students’ progress in the teacher's personal account.
The platform allows trainers to create their own exercise regimens, set up personal modifiers, and track students’ achievements.
Sergey Volnov, Technical Director of Fora.Vision, second-year student of the bachelor’s programme in Applied Mathematics and Information Science at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science, noted that his team started developing this project at the end of 2021, when various quarantine procedures and restrictions were imposed. ‘At the time, I was in the 11th grade,’ says Sergey. ‘Academic subjects were quickly transferred to an online format, but it turned out to be quite difficult to conduct physical education remotely. The same situation has developed in universities, so we decided that this could be a great way to solve this problem.’
The Fora.Vision platform has already been successfully implemented at the P.L. Kapitsa Phystech Lyceum and at ITMO University. Thanks to the project, students have the opportunity to take physical training tests remotely.
‘This may be useful for universities, because students don’t need to go to the gym,’ explains the Fora.Vision technical director. ‘We’ve already received a lot of feedback that the platform is convenient for combining study and sports. For schoolchildren, it has become a source of additional physical activity, since they spend a lot of time sitting.’
This year, the team of developers also received a 4-million-rouble grant from the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises in Science and Technology.
Currently, the platform is actively being improved using the grant. In the future, the team plans not only to expand the Fora.Vision customer base by attracting new educational organisations, but also to launch new activities for the company, such as holding sports marathons, preparing students for all-Russian physical training and sports tests, and working with fitness trainers.

HSE to Help Develop Legislature to Boost Technology Entrepreneurship
Artem Kritsyn, Manager of regional programmes and projects at the HSE Business Incubator, now heads the Working Group to Involve Secondary and Higher School Students in Entrepreneurship. The Working Group was created in October 2017 by the Expert Council on the Development of Civil Education and Student Socialization under the State Duma Committee for Education and Science. The Working Group also includes Tatyana Stroganova, Head of the HSE Innovation and Enterprise Office.
International Accelerator Invests in HSE Student Project
Dolphin Blockchain Intelligence, a Russian startup that graduated from the second intake of the fintech startup accelerator HSE{Pro}Fintech, was evaluated by Startupbootcamp, an international accelerator in Amsterdam at EUR 6 million and was given both investment and consulting assistance.
Winners of Startup of the Year Competition Selected
On February 19, the award ceremony for the 2015 Startup of the Year competition was held at Moscow’s Digital October Centre. Nearly 300 applications were submitted for the competition from Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus. Twelve of the best projects made it to the finals in four main categories, as well as in a special category called ‘People’s Love.’ The winning teams included students and alumni of the Higher School of Economics.
