Bachelor's Programme in The Arab World: Language, Literature, Culture
The Arab World: Language, Literature, Culture
The programme introduces students to the extensive written heritage of the early Arab world, as well as to its diverse and ever-changing present. Students gain fundamental historical and philological training in Arabic studies, as well as relevant competencies in the context of the contemporary Arabic Middle East.
The programme tackles this complex task by offering a wide range of disciplines in Arabic studies, including the history of Islam and the Islamic Caliphate, theoretical and practical aspects of the development of Arabic-speaking culture, philosophy and the arts, Arabic ethnography and cultural anthropology, and the current socio-political situation in the Middle East. These are combined with a rich selection of courses in the humanities, as well as additional courses in fields such as linguistics and philosophy, the Python programming language, and various minors.
