Seminar 'Statistical Analysis Methods for Quantifying Brain Activity during Naturalistic Paradigms' by Enrico Glerean

Event ended

The International Laboratory of Social Neurobiology is organizing an online seminar. Enrico Glerean, PhD D.Sc. Senior research fellow ICN HSE ILSN, Staff Scientist at Aalto School of Science Aalto University, will talk on 'Statistical analysis methods for quantifying brain activity during naturalistic paradigms'.

The use of naturalistic stimuli during brain data collection (e.g. watching a feature film, listening to an audio book, listening to music) has proved to be a very powerful tool in studying brain activity under life-like conditions. However, the added uncontrolled complexity of naturalistic stimuli has brought new challenges to develop methods to understand brain data measured with naturalistic paradigms. In this talk I will intuitively introduce methods such as Intersubject Correlation, Intersubject Phase Synchronisation, Intersubject Functional Connectivity and Intersubejct-Representation Similarity Analysis. These methods have proved to be very useful in understanding the similarities and differences of individual brains processing complex naturalistic stimuli in healthy and clinical populations.
