Students of HSE and SFedU Double Degree Programme Visit Their Second Alma Mater
Since 2022, HSE University and the Southern Federal University (SFedU) have been implementing a joint bachelor's programme ‘The Caucasus and the Middle East in the System of Regional and International Relations.’ Education takes place in Rostov-on-Don, with HSE professors mostly involved in the process remotely. In late April 2024, some of the top students from the programme were invited for a week to HSE University, where they participated in various educational and scientific events.
‘Islamic Finance Appears to Be More Stable Than Conventional Banks’
HSE University’s Online Campus presents a new course—‘Islamic Finance: Theory and Practice in the 21st Century’. Elmira Imamkulieva, creator of the course and Senior Lecturer at the School of International Regional Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, explains how Islamic financing is more reliable than venture capital and why the green bonds common in the Arab world are the investment of the future.

On December 7, 2021 the School of International Regional Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University within the framework of the permanent online seminars «Contemporary Area Studies», organized a meeting with Farhad Ibragimov, the expert of Valdai International Discussion Club, Anton Baklanov, researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Alexander Kuznetsov, visiting lecturer at the School of International Regional Studies, Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University.
Teach for HSE Seminar Focuses on Online Projects
In April, the Teach for HSE Project hosted an online seminar, ‘International Virtual Exchange in Your Classroom: No Visa Needed’. Seminar participants discussed the 2020-2021 Russian-Japanese Student International Research Programme, ‘Northeast Asia since 2012: Political and Economic Analysis’, which was held jointly by the School of International Regional Studies of the HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs and the Institute for Asian Studies and Regional Collaboration of Akita International University (Japan).
